“KIDO Group is about to cooperate with a technology association in Zhejiang, China. Accordingly, we will bring special effects to Vietnam, supporting businesses in producing TVC advertisements with 10 times more time savings, reducing up to 70% of costs compared to present”, notable information was shared by Mr. Tran Le Nguyen - representative of KIDO Group - at the Vietnam Private Economic Forum 2025 on the afternoon of August 22, in Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Nguyen said that Zhejiang is leading in digital technology in China, the capital of a series of world- famous technologies such as automatic robots, drones... Hangzhou - the capital of Zhejiang province - has attracted global attention in early 2025 as China's leading technology center, thanks to the rise of local startups, especially DeepSeek.

In addition, five other potential startups are also located in this area, including robotics company Unitree, DeepRobotics, game studio Game Science, brain-machine interface company BrainCo, and 3D interior design software developer Manycore.

According to SCMP, Hangzhou universities play an important role in nurturing tech talent. Three of the “six little dragons” were founded by alumni of Zhejiang University, including Liang Wenfeng of DeepSeek, Huang Xiaohuang and Chen Hang of Manycore, and Li Chao and Zhu Qiuguo of Deep Robotics.

As of September 2024, Zhejiang University has produced 102 leaders in Chinese startups, ranking only behind Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, according to Itjuzi. In 2024, Hangzhou's core digital economy industries will contribute 630.5 billion yuan, up 7.1% from 2023, accounting for nearly one-third of the city's GDP.

Recently, Hangzhou also introduced a plan to develop future industries in the 2025-2026 period, prioritizing AI, low-end economy, humanoid robots, and synthetic biology.

Mr. Nguyen revealed that the opportunity for KIDO to have this cooperation came from the trade promotion program between the two countries organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade .

Here, the group and other businesses visited the technology capital and met directly with the Chinese technology association. Realizing that many Vietnamese businesses are in need of applying AI to advertising, especially elaborate TVCs, the group has established a partnership to transfer this technology to Vietnam.

“We have to work and get approval from the Chinese government to transfer this technology. This is the most advanced special effects technology, China has transferred it to the US to deploy in a series of blockbuster movies and commercial TVCs,” said Mr. Nguyen.

Regarding the form of transfer, he shared that the current production is still located in China. In Vietnam, the two sides plan to establish AIRO Company - a joint venture between KIDO and a Chinese partner. AIRO will be controlled by KIDO with 51% of capital, with Mr. Tran Le Nguyen himself as Chairman of the Board of Directors, with operations between the two "teams" of Vietnam and China.

In China, AIRO Group has established an AI factory, providing comprehensive solutions for branding and commerce. The legal entity in Vietnam will be responsible for connecting commerce, that is, receiving orders from businesses, then sending them to Chinese manufacturers for production and returning the products.

“Using AI in TVC will help save production costs and production time. For example, a product promotion TVC usually takes 6-8 weeks to produce, but AIRO will take 10 days. The normal cost is about 50,000-70,000 USD, equivalent to a billion VND, but AIRO only costs about 10,000 USD, saving 80%,” Mr. Nguyen estimated.

On the Chinese partner’s side, the representative said that the reason they agreed to transfer technology to KIDO was because they saw Vietnam as a potential market. Currently, the scale of China’s TVC advertising market is worth up to billions of US dollars, and there is still a lot of room in Vietnam. The Chinese partner even has ambitions to export special effects technology to global markets through Vietnam.

When asked about the feasibility of the project, the representative said that it was not natural to propose cooperation with partners. Previously, through a survey of businesses in the Ho Chi Minh City Young Entrepreneurs Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association (HUBA), KIDO realized that there was a great need. And in fact, many parties have proposed to cooperate with KIDO in this project, from businesses to TV stations, celebrities, etc.

The challenge is why is a fertile market of Vietnam being exploited by China? Mr. Nguyen said that China is still training the Vietnamese “team” on technology and solutions to be able to advise customers on production. In the future, both sides still have plans to bring production to Vietnam.
