Floods on rivers in Thua Thien Hue are rising rapidly due to heavy rains upstream. Students across the province have been given a day off to ensure safety.


On the morning of November 25, the Hydrometeorological Station of Thua Thien Hue province said that prolonged heavy rain in the upper reaches has caused water levels in the province's rivers to rise rapidly.

At 5:00 a.m. on November 25, the water level of the Huong River at Kim Long station was at 2.88m, 0.62m below alert level 3, the water level on the Bo River at Phu Oc was at 3.65m, 0.65m above alert level 2.

According to the Hydrometeorological Station of Thua Thien Hue province, it is forecasted that on November 25, water levels on rivers in the province will continue to rise, the flood peak on Huong River and Bo River may reach and exceed alert level 3, posing a risk of widespread flooding in downstream areas.

Faced with the situation of very heavy rain in the upstream and rapid rising river water, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Thua Thien Hue province has requested localities and people to proactively deploy response plans.

To ensure the safety of students and teachers, on the morning of November 25, the Department of Education and Training of Thua Thien Hue province issued a notice for students in the whole province to stay home from school.
