National Day holiday schedule September 2, 2025: How many days off do workers get?

According to the provisions of Point d, Clause 1, Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Code, employees are entitled to 2 days off with full pay on the occasion of National Day September 2, including September 2 and 1 day before or after, as specifically decided by the Prime Minister each year depending on the actual situation.

Pursuant to the direction of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (now the Ministry of Home Affairs ) has issued a Notice regulating the holiday schedule on September 2, 2025 as follows:

Officials, civil servants, public employees and workers in the state sector are entitled to 4 consecutive days off, including 2 statutory holidays (1 consecutive day and September 2), 2 weekend days (Saturday and Sunday), from Saturday (August 30, 2025) to Tuesday (September 2, 2025).

For employees working in private or non-state enterprises, the holiday schedule will be decided by the enterprise itself, but must ensure 2 days of paid leave according to regulations.

Depending on the company's weekly rest period, the actual number of days off may vary:

For businesses that have Saturday and Sunday off every week: Employees will have 4 consecutive days off from August 30 (Saturday) to September 2 (Tuesday).

For businesses that only have Sundays off every week: Employees will have 3 consecutive days off, from August 31 (Sunday) to September 2 (Tuesday).

No fixed weekly leave: Enterprises must still arrange for employees to have at least 2 days off, including September 2 and one adjacent day (before or after) according to legal regulations.

The Ministry of Home Affairs encourages businesses to apply the same holiday schedule as the public sector to facilitate workers.

In summary, on the occasion of the National Day holiday on September 2 this year, employees can have 3 or 4 days off, depending on the weekly rest period of the enterprise. In any case, the enterprise must ensure at least 2 days of paid leave.
