On the morning of June 15, at Lam Son Dance and Drama Theater (Thanh Hoa City), the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a ceremony to launch the National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control and award prizes for the Photo Contest with the theme "Happy Family - Prosperous Nation".

Attending the launching ceremony were Comrade Dau Thanh Tung, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Department of Family (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism); representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors and local leaders.

Domestic violence is the intentional act of a family member that causes or is likely to cause physical, mental, sexual, or economic harm to another family member. Domestic violence causes many serious consequences, first of all, it violates human rights. At the same time, it erodes good traditional cultural values; affects the lifestyle and morality of each individual, especially, it has a negative impact on the education of the younger generation. Moreover, domestic violence also negatively affects socio-economic development and social security and order.

Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Pham Nguyen Hong launched the National Action Month on preventing and combating domestic violence.

In Thanh Hoa province, family work and domestic violence prevention and control have always received attention from Party committees and authorities at all levels and have been implemented synchronously from the province to the grassroots. Currently, the whole province, 27 districts, towns and cities have sustainable family development clubs; most communes, wards and towns in the province have built and strengthened mediation teams and formed trusted addresses and intervention groups for domestic violence prevention and control. The clubs and mediation teams are operating effectively with many rich, diverse and high-quality activities, attracting a large number of people to respond and participate, contributing to reducing the number of domestic violence cases in the province.

However, in recent years, domestic violence, school violence, child abuse, and violations of social ethical standards have become increasingly complex.

With the theme "End violence, foster love", the National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control in 2024 was launched with many practical activities to promote propaganda, raise awareness of Party committees, authorities and people on domestic violence prevention and control, join hands to build families that are truly cells of society, an important environment for forming, nurturing and educating personality, preserving and promoting good traditional cultural values, fighting social evils, creating human resources to serve the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

After the launching ceremony in response to the "National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control", the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organized the award ceremony for the Photo Contest with the theme "Happy Family - Prosperous Nation".

The photo contest “Happy Family - Prosperous Nation” is an important part of the series of activities in response to the National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control and the celebration of Vietnamese Family Day on June 28 in the province. After nearly 4 months of launching the contest, the Organizing Committee has received nearly 221 photo entries from districts, towns and cities in the province.

According to the Organizing Committee's assessment, the works were carefully invested, closely following the theme, and fully meeting the criteria set out by the contest. Most of the works recorded moments of families living in Thanh Hoa province, such as: family meals; multi-generational families gathering and chatting; families in production; families participating in social activities; grandparents and grandchildren chatting; parents and children chatting; happy moments of husband and wife... Some districts achieved high results such as: Ngoc Lac, Ba Thuoc, Thach Thanh, Ha Trung and Thanh Hoa city. The winning works and participating individuals will become the core with the power to strongly spread meaningful messages and stories about love in each family to the community and the whole society.

At the award ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded 2 B prizes, 4 C prizes and 5 Encouragement prizes to the teams participating in the competition.

Immediately after the award ceremony, the parade responding to the National Action Month on Domestic Violence Prevention and Control began marching through the main streets of Thanh Hoa City to promote propaganda on domestic violence prevention and control to the public.
