No Vietnamese among victims of terrorist attack in India

VNA reporters in New Delhi contacted the Consular Section of the Vietnamese Embassy in India and were informed that the two tourists killed in the terrorist attack in India were not Vietnamese.

Immediately after local media reported that two foreign tourists were among the 28 victims killed in the terrorist attack on April 22 (local time) in the Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), northern India, a VNA reporter in New Delhi contacted the Consular Section of the Vietnamese Embassy in India and was informed that the two tourists were not Vietnamese.

Through the social media accounts of the Vietnamese Association in India, Vietnamese groups in India... VNA reporters have not yet received any information about whether there are Vietnamese people among the tourists attacked and injured in the above horrific incident.

According to local sources, the terrorist attack killed at least 26 tourists and injured 20 others.

Meanwhile, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the death toll was still being ascertained, as he described the terror attack as "far more horrifying than any attack on civilians in recent years."

On the same day, US Vice President JD Vance - who is on a four-day visit to India (April 21-24) with his family - condemned this horrific terrorist attack.

"(US Second Lady) Usha and I send our condolences to the families of the victims of the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India," he wrote on X.

Expressing solidarity with India in this context, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent condolences to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“My heartfelt condolences on the tragic aftermath of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, where civilians – citizens of various countries – were killed. This heinous crime was completely unjustified,” he said.

Besides, President Putin pledged to continue to strengthen cooperation with India in the fight against global terrorism.

"We hope that the organizers (of the terrorist attack) and the perpetrators will be punished appropriately," he said./.
