Cat Bi is one of the important international airports in Vietnam, playing an important role in the socio-economic development strategy of Hai Phong city, the northern coastal region and the Red River Delta regions.

Hai Phong is developing very rapidly, the number of investors is large, the trend of transporting high-tech goods by air is increasing, and the need for transporting goods associated with air logistics services is very urgent.

Therefore, investing in the synchronous and modern development of the infrastructure system at Cat Bi International Airport is one of ACV's key tasks in the investment and development plan for the 2021-2025 period.

However, for many years, Cat Bi International Airport has only been operating passenger transport, its cargo transport capacity is still limited, not meeting the requirements. The cargo terminal plays an important role in the development of high-tech logistics in Hai Phong City.

After efforts to implement investment procedures and remove difficulties and obstacles in site clearance, the Cat Bi International Airport cargo terminal construction investment project was officially started with a total investment of 724 billion VND, with a capacity of 100,000 tons of cargo/year and a synchronous technical infrastructure system, capable of expanding to 250,000 tons of cargo/year. It is expected to be completed and put into operation in January 2026.

The project is an important driving force, contributing to the development of Vietnam's aviation industry, promoting the competitiveness of Hai Phong City in the fields of investment and trade. This is one of the projects using non-budgetary capital invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) and included in the list of key projects by the People's Committee of Hai Phong City.
