On the afternoon of January 9, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee, held a press conference to inform about the "Homeland Spring" program in 2025.
Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, chaired the press conference. Also attending the press conference was Ms. Ngo Minh Hoang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Foreign Affairs.
At the press conference, information about the Spring Homeland program in 2025, Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, said that the Spring Homeland program in 2025 was co-organized by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hanoi People's Committee. This is a meaningful event that has become an important cultural and political event attracting the participation of a large number of overseas Vietnamese around the world, every time the New Year comes, spring comes to all overseas Vietnamese.
Ms. Hang emphasized that the Xuan Que Huong program in recent years has been honored to welcome Party and State leaders to attend. The President directly presided over a number of activities and wished overseas Vietnamese a Happy New Year. This shows respect and sincere feelings for overseas Vietnamese, encouraging the overseas Vietnamese community to continue to strive, work, study, unite, build a stable and strong community, and contribute important resources to the cause of building, developing and protecting the Fatherland.
According to Ms. Hang, the Spring Homeland program in 2025 was chosen with the theme "Vietnam - Rising in the new era" taking place from January 18 to January 20, 2025 with many rich and meaningful events.
“2025 is also a year with many major events in Vietnam. The Homeland Spring Program is the first political and cultural event to open a year full of meaningful events. This is also an event that contributes to encouraging and motivating overseas Vietnamese to strive, work, study, unite, build a stable and strong community, and promote the great solidarity of the Vietnamese people,” said Ms. Hang.
Currently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese are closely coordinating with the Hanoi People's Committee to prepare for the activities. Accordingly, the President is expected to attend the following activities: Incense Offering Ceremony at Kinh Thien Palace, Thang Long Imperial Citadel; Traditional carp releasing ceremony at Uncle Ho's Fish Pond; and the President's New Year greetings to overseas Vietnamese; the Spring Homeland 2025 art exchange program at the National Convention Center. The New Year greetings and art exchange program will be broadcast live on VTV 1 and VTV 4.
In addition, delegates who are outstanding overseas Vietnamese will be organized to greet the leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, and Hanoi leaders. At the same time, the Hanoi People's Committee will organize a reception for overseas Vietnamese attending the Homeland Spring program.
Responding to the press about the new features of the Xuan Que Huong program in 2025 compared to previous years, Ms. Hang said that this is an annual event, so to renew it is truly a challenge. In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City was chosen as the venue, this year, Hanoi was chosen, and the Hanoi People's Committee is the "partner" to co-host this event.
This is the first political and cultural event of 2025, a year full of extremely meaningful events for Vietnam. The theme Vietnam - Rising in the new era will carry messages associated with important events of the country, and demonstrate the aspirations of the Vietnamese people to rise in the new era.
“We want this to be an event to honor the great contributions and dedication of overseas Vietnamese in the cause of national development, while at the same time encouraging overseas Vietnamese to continue to strive to work, study and unite, build a strong and stable community, and contribute together with compatriots in the country to the era of national development.
In addition, organizing activities to connect with localities, including Hung Yen province in addition to Hanoi, is an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese to contribute and give advice to the socio-economic development process and other fields of the locality," said Ms. Hang, adding that the 2025 Homeland Spring program will have about 1,000 overseas Vietnamese participating, including about 100 outstanding overseas Vietnamese in all fields.
