Hotels in Phan Thiet City Reminder when using Pi virtual currency for listing

Specifically, according to Director of the Department of Culture - Sports - Tourism of Binh Thuan , Bui The Nhan, Minh Tam Hotel (on Tran Hung Dao Street, Phan Thiet City) was discovered by the police to list and pay for rooms with virtual currency (Pi).

According to Mr. Nhan, the Minh Tam Hotel had only been using virtual currency for room payments for 5 days when Binh Thuan Police discovered it, came to inspect it, and forced it to stop listing.

Immediately after receiving the report from the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (Department PA05 - Binh Thuan Provincial Police), the Department of Culture - Sports - Tourism also sent a working group to inspect and remind this hotel to strictly comply with the provisions of the law on listing prices in VND, according to Decree 177/ND 2013 of the Government and regulations of the State Bank.

The hotel owner admitted to listing and accepting virtual currency payments since late February 2023.

"Immediately after the inspection and reminder by the working group, the owner of Minh Tam hotel strictly implemented the rule and no longer posted room prices in Pi currency," said Mr. Nhan.

According to Mr. Nhan, up to this point, the Department of Culture - Sports - Tourism of Binh Thuan has only reminded but has not considered sanctioning the act of listing and paying virtual currency of Minh Tam Hotel.

Talking to Thanh Nien reporter, Minh Tam hotel owner Nguyen Van H. said that he has stopped listing and exchanging at the request of Department PA05.

Mr. Nguyen Van H. explained that he learned the way of doing things from some hotels in PQ and applied it to his hotel. "My hotel has 30 rooms, but I still have 10 rooms left that have not been sold out, so I exchange them for 0.5Pi/room/night. This is not buying and selling, but just exchanging. This form of Pi virtual currency cannot be a scam" - Mr. H. affirmed.
