The event brought together over 100 representatives from innovative solutions providers in the field of climate change response, investors and carbon market experts. The goal is to build a green and sustainable future for Vietnam.

Guests attending the Climate Investment Matchmaking Day under the Business Partnership Platform (BPP) heard valuable insights from representatives of the Vietnamese Government and industry experts on the regulatory environment and approaches to promoting investment in carbon markets.

The event showcased BPP partnerships in Vietnam, providing an opportunity for innovative practitioners to present their carbon projects to address climate change.

Ms. Sarah Hooper, Australian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, said the event was an opportunity to connect the innovation ecosystem to adapt to climate change, while creating opportunities for cooperation in the field of innovation for the potential carbon market as well as Vietnam's green development strategy.

Through the BPP, the Australian Government has since 2016 invested AUD 9.5 million to support 16 private sector initiatives that aim to tackle climate change, develop sustainable carbon markets and create better outcomes for local communities, particularly women and people with disability.

The program also created a platform to attract AUD 14.2 million in matching capital from program partners.

In another development, the UK Energy Trade Delegation visited Vietnam from October 20-24. The delegation included 17 representative British businesses in the supply chain of offshore wind power, green hydrogen and energy storage.

They spent five days working in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to explore market opportunities and connect with potential partners.

This is the second consecutive year that the UK Energy Trade Delegation has visited Vietnam, following the success of the visit in November 2023.
