Although it is a rigid structure project, requiring construction in the correct order and ensuring time for each stage, it was not until early July that branch 2 of the level-separated intersection between National Highway 279 and National Highway 18 was handed over for implementation. To make up for the slow progress, the construction unit mobilized maximum manpower and equipment, urgently conducted test drilling and bored pile drilling.
According to Mr. Do Tuan Anh, Project Supervision Consultant (Northern Traffic Construction Design Consulting Joint Stock Company), the construction time of branch 2 needs at least 14 months, however, to shorten the progress due to the delay in site clearance, the contractor has put into use the most modern drilling line currently. After the test drilling results, the unit will continue to mobilize another drilling line, striving to complete the entire bored pile section of branch 2 by September.
The project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 279 is over 8.6km long, starting at the National Highway 18 intersection and ending at the Ha Long - Van Don expressway access road. To date, the project has completed over 35% of the volume. In the roadbed section, over 1.8 million m³ of earth and rock have been excavated, with about 1.3 million m³ yet to be constructed; the K95 soil layer has been filled in the roadbed, reaching nearly 58% of the volume. The Gieng Vong Bridge has been completed, the National Highway 18 intersection has completed the girder casting and main pier construction; the branch line 1 has completed the K4 concrete pouring section.
At the same time, at the different-level intersection, the joint venture contractor is speeding up the progress: Excavating the entire right side of the route to the designed road surface elevation to organize traffic regulation; at the same time, excavating, lowering the slope of the old roadbed area and coordinating the embankment on the entire route.
Mr. Le Lam Son, Chief Project Supervision Consultant (Northern Traffic Construction Design Consulting Joint Stock Company) said: Immediately after the site was available, the contractor mobilized twice as many human resources and equipment as the bidding documents to compensate for the progress. The items within the scope of the site to be handed over before July 1, 2025 are expected to be basically completed in 2025, in which the roadbed will be cleared throughout the route and some sections will be paved with the first layer of asphalt concrete. In particular, the intersection area, due to the late handover of the site and many hard structure items requiring at least 14 months of construction, will be completed later.
To ensure the progress of public investment disbursement, the investor is coordinating with departments and branches to urgently remove difficulties and speed up project adjustments, aiming to soon complete technical infrastructure to serve site clearance and deploy construction projects, especially the electricity and water systems at the intersection area with National Highway 18.
