Due to the influence of storm No. 5, from the afternoon of August 25, many areas in the province have experienced moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, forecast to last until August 27. The total rainfall is expected to be from 50 - 100mm, some places 70 - 120mm. The Bac Ninh Provincial Hydrometeorological Station warns that heavy rain in a short period of time poses a risk of tornadoes, lightning, hail, strong gusts of wind, flash floods and landslides.

At Nghia Dao Pumping Station (Thuan Thanh Irrigation Works Exploitation Enterprise, Nam Duong Irrigation Works Exploitation One Member Limited Liability Company), officers and employees maintain 3 shifts/day on duty. With the goal of not letting 1,600 hectares of winter-spring rice in the communes and wards: Tram Lo, Thuan Thanh, Mao Dien be flooded, the unit arranged 8 units (flow rate 4,000 m³/unit/hour), ready to operate at full capacity, proactively responding when heavy rain occurs.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hanh, in charge of the pumping station, said: “Following the direction of the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Nam Duong Irrigation Works One Member Limited Liability Company, from August 24, the station will operate the pumps to pump buffers and maintain a safe water level at the suction tank. In case of heavy rain, the unit will increase the operation of the pumps to drain the water in a timely manner.”
At the same time, the company requires 100% of workers of factories and pumping stations to be on duty, closely monitor the water level of the suction tank, operate the buffer drainage pump, and maintain safe water levels according to the process.
During the evening and night of August 25, if there is heavy rain, the water in the suction tank will rise, large pumping stations such as: Kenh Vang, Nhat Trai, Van Thai A, Nghi Khuc, Dai Dong Thanh, Cau Dao, Giang Son, Nghi An will be operated to drain the water.
Bac Giang ward shock force checks equipment and supplies ready to participate in natural disaster prevention and control. |
In the communes of Tuan Dao, Dai Son, Yen Dinh, and Tay Yen Tu (localities that suffered heavy damage due to floods on August 21), disaster prevention and control work is at the highest level. Local authorities have stepped up propaganda through the media, asking people to absolutely not be negligent or subjective.
On the morning and afternoon of August 25, commune leaders went directly to each hamlet and village to inspect and review storm response work. Police, military, medical forces, and village management boards were on duty to command and ensure that troops were ready to mobilize when necessary.

With the goal of ensuring safety of life and minimizing property damage to the people, businesses and the State, the Party Committees and People's Committees of communes and wards focus on directing the effective implementation of natural disaster response, especially in areas at high risk of flash floods and landslides; continue to closely monitor forecasts and warnings of heavy rain, risks of floods, inundation, flash floods and landslides; promptly provide full information to units and people for proactive prevention.
The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of communes and wards requested the shock force to strengthen inspection and review of residential areas along rivers, streams, and low-lying areas at risk of flooding and landslides; proactively clear the flow; organize evacuation and move people to safety, especially in areas that have just experienced heavy rain.
Prepare rescue forces and means when necessary. Communes and towns arrange forces to guard, control, support, and guide traffic safety, especially at culverts, spillways, deep flooded areas, fast-flowing water, or areas at risk of landslides. Resolutely do not allow people and vehicles to pass through when safety is not guaranteed.
Localities with flood discharge sluices into rivers must immediately implement drastic measures and promptly handle when the river water level rises and threatens to overflow into the fields, protecting agricultural production and winter-spring rice areas. Dike protection and natural disaster response work is seriously implemented according to the "4 on-site" motto; on duty 24/7 to proactively handle unusual situations, ensuring the safety of the dike system, irrigation works, traffic and people's lives.
