Raising awareness of proper loan management
To effectively implement the program, the District Women's Union has focused on disseminating preferential credit policies to officials, members and people, especially those who are eligible for loans, about their responsibilities and obligations to repay debts and interest; guiding borrowers to use loans effectively, ensuring proper implementation of the State's policies and guidelines on preferential credit programs.
Every year, the Tam Nong District Women's Union develops plans, organizes inspections, and supervises entrusted activities. Thanks to the inspections, limitations and errors have been discovered, thereby promptly correcting them and improving the quality of credit managed by the Union in the area.
In addition, the District Women's Union closely coordinates with the District Social Policy Bank (SPB) Transaction Office and local authorities to consolidate and improve the quality of social policy credit activities.
People in Tam Nong district access credit policy loans to develop livestock production and improve their lives.
Up to now, the outstanding loan entrusted by the District Women's Union is over 109 billion VND, more than 3,400 customers have outstanding loans; nearly 98% of loan members participate in monthly savings, with a balance of over 5.6 billion VND.
The Women's Union of the district and communes and towns coordinated with the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to organize over 130 training courses to improve professional capacity and capital management processes; provide guidance on new procedures and regulations in entrustment activities... for the Union's staff and the Savings and Loan Management Board.
With the goal of helping members and borrowers use loans for the right purposes and effectively, the District Women's Union regularly coordinates with all levels and sectors in integrating training, guidance, and transferring scientific and technical advances to help members and borrowers apply scientific and technical advances in production, animal husbandry, and crop restructuring. Thereby, it has helped many borrowers escape poverty sustainably, and members have successfully accessed start-up loans.
Use loans to develop family economy
One of the individuals who effectively used loans from the Social Policy Bank in Hoa Binh Commune, Tam Nong District, Dong Thap Province is the family of Ms. Huynh Thi Biet. Previously, Ms. Biet's family was a poor household, life was very difficult. Introduced by the local government, her family borrowed 50 million VND from the Social Policy Bank to develop the economy. From this amount of money, combined with mobilizing family resources, Ms. Biet built a barn and bought breeding goats. Thanks to diligent care and disease prevention for the goats, after more than 2 years, Ms. Biet's goats reproduced well.
With the money from selling breeding goats, Ms. Biet continued to increase the number of goats, raising goats for meat and breeding goats. With the money earned from selling goats for meat and breeding goats, Ms. Biet not only paid back the loan on time but also saved it for her family. Since then, her family's economy has become more and more stable, not only helping her escape poverty but also having enough to eat and save.
Tam Nong District Social Policy Bank transaction office disburses credit policy capital to poor households
Also thanks to the loan from the Social Policy Bank like Ms. Biet, Ms. Le Thi Yen Nhi (residing in Phu Thanh B commune, Tam Nong district) boldly started a business by investing in a production and processing facility for guava leaf tea bags. With her own efforts, thanks to the capital, combined with learning and applying science and creativity in production, Ms. Nhi's guava leaf tea bags have been successful and well received by consumers. Moreover, the guava leaf tea products have also contributed to the development of the startup movement and the "One Commune One Product" Program in the locality.
Strengthen inspection and supervision to improve loan management capacity
It is known that after 10 years (2014 - 2024) of implementing policy credit loans managed by the Women's Union of Tam Nong district, it has significantly changed the economic development and stabilized social life in the locality. Specifically, more than 2,100 poor and near-poor households have overcome difficulties thanks to loans; jobs have been created for nearly 5,200 workers; over 1,570 students with difficult circumstances have received loans for their studies; 8,300 clean water and rural environmental sanitation works have been built, contributing to the implementation of the National Target Program on poverty reduction and new rural construction in the area.
According to the assessment of the Women's Union of Tam Nong district, through the implementation of the work of receiving loans entrusted to the Bank for Social Policies, the Women's Unions at the grassroots level have promoted their role well, thereby, the Union organization has been increasingly consolidated and developed extensively. Thanks to the program, thousands of poor households, near-poor households, and policy families have access to preferential credit sources quickly, conveniently, and effectively.
Thanks to the effective use of loan capital, the lives of Tam Nong women's union members are increasingly developing.
In the coming time, to continue to better implement No. 40-CT/TW of the Secretariat on "Strengthening the leadership of the Party in social policy credit work", the Tam Nong District Women's Union will continue to maintain and strengthen propaganda work associated with inspection and supervision of all levels of the Union from district to commune. At the same time, coordinate with the district's Social Policy Bank to organize professional training for grassroots Union officials and leaders of Savings and Loan Groups to improve loan management capacity.
In addition, the Women's Union at all levels in the district will continue to maintain and build new models, meaningful to effectively implement the work of entrusting loans to poor households and other policy subjects... contributing to effectively implementing the Party's policies and the State's policies on poverty reduction, job creation, ensuring social security, and developing the local economy and society.
