BTO-This morning (October 27), the Binh Thuan Union of Science and Technology Associations in collaboration with relevant agencies inside and outside the province organized a workshop on “Solutions for linking rice production to adapt to climate change”. The workshop was attended by a number of relevant departments and branches and 130 delegates who are rice farmers in the province.
At the workshop, delegates listened to presentations from units, agencies, scientists and businesses such as the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, the Agricultural Extension Center, the Agricultural Seed Center, scientists inside and outside the province, and related businesses. Thereby, they exchanged opinions, discussed, gave feedback, and shared more useful information on solutions for linking rice production to adapt to climate change.
Among the contents discussed were the results achieved in converting crop structure on rice land, socialization of using certified rice varieties in production; the situation of high-quality rice production in the province; scientific research and agricultural extension...
The workshop also provided information on some models of rice production adapted to climate change according to chain linkage; orientation for implementing the model in the coming time. At the same time, it introduced some rice varieties adapted to climate change, introduced some smart rice production processes, rice cultivation techniques, fertilization techniques... In which, one of the solutions is that farmers need to sow at reasonable density, use water economically and effectively; increase the use of organic fertilizers... to reduce production costs and increase economic efficiency; limit negative impacts on the ecological environment...
Delegates suggested that functional agencies, especially the agricultural sector, need to study more solutions to promote rice production linkages, especially pay attention to building more new models, applying new scientific and technical advances to serve rice production; introduce them to people for consideration and application to the specific conditions of the province.
It is known that Binh Thuan is a province with favorable conditions for agricultural development, in which rice is one of the main crops. According to the agricultural sector, the annual rice cultivation area of the province is more than 100,000 hectares; the average yield is over 6 tons/ha. However, the province's rice production in association with climate change adaptation is currently facing many difficulties. In addition, the connection between scientists, state management agencies, enterprises and producers is still limited, product output is unstable, and fertilizer use is unreasonable...
Therefore, the workshop is an opportunity for experts, scientists, professional agencies, businesses and farmers to discuss and clarify difficulties, shortcomings, and shortcomings, and share good experiences from practice. At the same time, propose more solutions to link rice production to adapt to climate change in the province in the coming time.
