Vietnamese students are awarded many scholarships to study abroad.

The Government of India Scholarship covers return airfare, tuition fees, stipend during the course, free visa and on-campus facilities. These 78 scholarships are offered by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), under the Atal Bihari Vajpayee General Scholarship (GSS), Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC) Scholarship, Dr. S. Radhakrishnan Cultural Exchange Scholarship and Lata Mangeshkar Dance & Music (Culture) Scholarship.

Among the selected Vietnamese students and scholars, there are 38 students pursuing PhD programs, 24 students pursuing Postgraduate (Masters) programs and 16 students pursuing Bachelors programs at leading institutes/universities in India such as Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, Delhi University, Nalanda University, Banaras Hindu University, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Andhra University, Mumbai University, Gujarat University, Kerala University, Lucknow University, Dibrugarh University, etc.

The selected Vietnamese students and scholars will study majors including Information Technology, Computer Science, Commerce, Business Administration, International Relations, Performing Arts, Public Policy Management, Water Resources, in addition to majors in Buddhism, Philosophy, Psychology, Pali Language, Archaeology, Ancient Indian History, Indian Arts and Culture. These educational programs contribute to enriching the strong and long-standing relationship between India and Vietnam under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Meanwhile, according to the Australian Embassy in Vietnam, on August 4, the Australian Government announced a national plan of 295,000 international student quotas in 2026, an increase of 9% compared to 270,000 quotas in 2025. Notably, Australian public universities will be able to register to increase their international student quota for 2026 by demonstrating closer ties with the Southeast Asian region through training programs, partnerships, training facilities, alumni networks and scholarships.

Universities also need to provide more student accommodation to ensure both domestic and international students have safe and suitable places to live. The Australian Government encourages universities to increase their engagement with Southeast Asia, in line with Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040.

Australia is now the third most popular destination for Vietnamese students, with more than 33,000 Vietnamese students studying in Australia. Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Gillian Bird said: “Education has long been a cornerstone of the relationship between Australia and Vietnam. New efforts to increase student numbers will help strengthen people-to-people links and boost investment in Vietnam."

Previously, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam also awarded 19 master's scholarships, 15 undergraduate scholarships and 24 Chinese language scholarships to 48 candidates from the area from Hue to the North of Vietnam. Scholarship recipients are supported with tuition and other expenses up to 40,000 NTD/semester and living expenses of 15,000 - 20,000 NTD/month, with support period of 2 - 4 years. In addition, 18 candidates received Chinese language scholarships, with study period of 3 - 12 months, with support of 28,000 NTD/month.
