At the Pearson Edexcel International General Certificate Award Ceremony (held on March 15 in Ho Chi Minh City), Van Hoang Minh Anh - a 10th grade student at CATH1, Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted - was honored for achieving one of the highest math scores in the world.

Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Van Hoang Minh Anh could not hide his joy: "In the 2024 Pearson Edexcel international general certificate exam, I tried my best to do well on the exam. However, the above result still surprised me, because I thought there were many other students who were better than me."

* Can you share your study tips?

- Van Hoang Minh Anh: Before starting a long semester, I will use my phone to record the key points. After a while, I will review the journey to see how hard I have tried, what problems I still need to overcome...

Before each important exam, I will consolidate the main content of the lessons, and review the notes I took before. This way of studying helps me gain both broad knowledge and in-depth knowledge based on basic knowledge.

In class, I often focus on listening to the teachers lecture so I can understand and grasp the lesson right in class.

After each class, I will spend time doing homework and reviewing the knowledge I learned that day. So studying is quite easy for me.

I also have to confess that my notebook is not very clean. Because I often take notes on the issues that the teacher points out.

Thanks to this note taking, I remember the lesson very well. In addition, it also creates interest, stimulates me to explore more, and deepen my knowledge.

* To achieve success in learning, what skills do you think students need?

- Van Hoang Minh Anh: I think perseverance and reasonable time management have helped me achieve the results I have today. For studying, time management and organization skills are very important. The main issue is that each student needs to have self-study skills.

Actually, I think most students today are self-aware. However, some of them cannot study by themselves because of… their phones.

Smartphones today have so many attractive features that it is easy for students to get distracted or spend too much time scrolling through their phones. I myself sometimes get addicted to smartphones.

* Many people are curious and want to know about the study schedule of specialized school students?

- Van Hoang Minh Anh: Many people think that: students at specialized schools in general, and Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted in particular, all day long only know how to study and study.

In fact, we all know how to balance between studying and playing. Besides studying, I also play sports, spend time drawing, reading books, improving soft skills...
