The two routes of Dan Quan Canal - Pumping Station No. 3 and Trai So - Linh Ung Pagoda have been completed, helping to better serve the development of the salt industry in Bac Lieu.
On March 3, Secretary of Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee Lu Van Hung and leaders of units inspected the infrastructure serving the salt industry in this province.
The delegation inspected the progress of the project to build traffic infrastructure to serve the salt production area in Dong Hai district on the route of Militia Canal - Pumping Station No. 3 (length 2.56km in Dien Hai commune, Dong Hai district).
A working delegation from Bac Lieu province inspected the progress of infrastructure construction for salt industry development in Dong Hai district.
Mr. Ngo Nguyen Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Bac Lieu province, said that the route from the Dan Quan Canal to Pumping Station No. 3, about 2.5km long, has been completed. At the same time, the route from Trai So to Linh Ung Pagoda, 3.72km long, has been completed.
"These are two routes that will be inaugurated on March 6, 2025 during the 2025 Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Festival," said Mr. Phong.
According to Mr. Phong, the two above routes are part of the construction of transport infrastructure, serving the salt production and transportation area in Dong Hai district, with a scale of 14.7km of road and 20 bridges on the route. The remaining three routes are about 8km long, and 20 bridges are expected in 2025, with a total project cost of over 120 billion VND.
The completion of the Militia Canal - Pumping Station No. 3 route and its use have made salt transportation more convenient for salt farmers.
Through the inspection, Mr. Lu Van Hung, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, highly appreciated the determination and efforts in implementing the projects and tasks of the relevant units and localities.
"In particular, during the days of the Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Festival in 2025, at the intersections of Dong Hai district, signs must be placed to guide the way to the event venue.
At the same time, it is necessary to ensure good security and order, smooth traffic to create convenience and a good impression in the eyes of tourists attending the event," the Secretary of the Bac Lieu Provincial Party Committee added.
With nearly 1,500 hectares, Bac Lieu is one of the localities with the largest salt production area in the country. The total number of salt production households in 2024 in the province is 777 households, with more than 800 workers.
In 2020, salt making in Bac Lieu was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
To preserve and enhance the value of salt grains and develop the salt industry in a sustainable manner, Bac Lieu province coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize the Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Festival 2025 "100-year journey of salt industry - People's life" with the theme "Enhancing the value of Vietnamese salt grains".
The 2025 Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Festival will officially take place in Bac Lieu province from March 6 - 8, 2025 at two main locations: Bac Lieu city and Dong Hai district. The opening ceremony of the Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Festival will take place at 8:00 p.m. on March 6 at Hung Vuong Square (Ward 1, Bac Lieu city).
This is an opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge in production, business and processing of salt products and OCOP products between localities across the country.
Along with that is strengthening the connection and cooperation between salt production, processing and trading agents within the salt industry and with other fields such as tourism, healthcare, cuisine; at the same time, promoting the historical, cultural and heritage values of the salt industry in Bac Lieu and participating localities.
