When the mother of Duong Cong Chien (born in 1980, truck driver) heard the bad news, she ran to the riverbank alone to wait for news of her son. Chien was identified as one of the drivers on the bridge at the time of the collapse. According to Ms. Vu Thi Hoa - a witness living near the riverbank, "The bridge collapsed with a very loud noise that scared me very much. The water flowed so fast that the rescue operations of the authorities encountered many difficulties."
