Highlight Belgium unexpectedly lost 0-1 to Slovakia
Speaking at a press conference after the match at Frankfurt Arena (Germany) on the evening of June 17, coach Domenico Tedesco said: "This defeat is painful. I don't want to blame the players. We will evaluate internally and not talk about it in the press.

I knew that one day Belgium would lose, but unfortunately it happened today. We created many clear chances and of course if we had used them well, the game would have been completely different."
In the 7th minute, midfielder Jeremy Doku made a bad pass in his own half, allowing Slovakia to counterattack and Ivan Schranz to score the only goal of the match. It took 15 matches since replacing Roberto Martinez for coach Domenico Tedesco to suffer a defeat.
In this match, striker Romelu Lukaka disappointed when he missed many good chances. In addition, the striker currently playing for AS Roma twice scored against Slovakia but was denied by VAR technology.
When asked about Lukaku's form, coach Domenico Tedesco affirmed: "Lukaku has played for the Belgian team for a long time. He knows how to score goals and I don't need to tell him about it. Romelu is a top-class player with a great personality."

Lukaku had a goal ruled out for offside in the 55th minute and in the 86th minute, teammate Lois Openda handled the ball before passing it to Lukaku to shoot into the net. In both cases, VAR intervened and ruled in Slovakia's favour.
Regarding these two situations, coach Domenico Tedesco shared: "It's hard to comment. If the Belgian team won, I could say more. But we lost and I want to be seen as an impartial coach, so I won't comment much.
I trust VAR technology. If the referees say it was a handball, then we have to accept it."
