In the context of the domestic economy recovering slowly after the Covid-19 pandemic, car purchasing power has weakened, many new car models in the Vietnamese market are forced to offer incentives ranging from several hundred million to billions of VND to attract buyers. Not only are popular car models having difficulty selling VIN 2024 cars, the luxury segment is also witnessing a prolonged inventory of VIN 2023 cars. Despite dealers continuously lowering prices, many car models are still "unsold" and have to apply increasingly strong incentives.
Mercedes-Benz sales drop sharply, still sluggish Mercedes-Benz Vietnam is the brand under the most pressure. Since the beginning of the year, the E-Class VIN 2023 has been reduced by 200-300 million VND. However, by the end of June, many E 300 AMG cars had not found owners, forcing dealers to raise the discount to up to 600 million VND. Even the flagship C-Class is slow to sell. Some dealers have offered the C 200 Avantgarde VIN 2024 for sale at a discount of VND240 million, bringing the price from VND1.599 billion to VND1.359 billion – almost equivalent to a Toyota Camry (VND1.22 – 1.53 billion). Volkswagen offers generous incentives Not only Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen also joined the price reduction race by supporting 50 - 100% of the registration fee for the Teramont X, Tiguan and Touareg models. In particular, Touareg reduced by nearly 310 million VND, bringing the selling price to 2.429 - 2.789 billion VND.
Jeep creates a "shock" with a billion-dollar price reduction Meanwhile, Jeep Vietnam caused a stir when it applied a record discount for 2023 VIN vehicles. The two Wrangler and Grand Cherokee models were reduced from 1.389 to 2.6 billion VND. After the reduction, the Wrangler was reduced to 2.499 - 2.699 billion VND, approaching the price of a mid-size luxury SUV like the Mercedes-Benz GLC. The Grand Cherokee has been reduced by VND2.268 - 2.6 billion, bringing the price down to VND3.43 - 4.288 billion. This is a 7-seat SUV, with a 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine (293 horsepower, 353 Nm), and off-road capability thanks to the 4-wheel drive system. According to experts, the continuous price reduction of luxury cars comes from many factors. In addition to the difficult economic context causing consumers to tighten their spending, the tax policy that is about to take effect also greatly affects shopping psychology.
From 2026, import taxes on cars from the EU and the UK to Vietnam will continue to decrease according to the commitments in EVFTA and UKVFTA. In addition, Vietnam and the US are also promoting trade negotiations, with the expectation of reducing import taxes on large-capacity cars from the US to 0%. These factors make many customers tend to wait, instead of buying cars at the present time, contributing to increasing inventory and forcing luxury car manufacturers to launch "huge" incentives to stimulate demand.
