“While strengthening surveillance and vigilance, our military is maintaining a full readiness posture in close cooperation with the US,” the JCS said in a text message to reporters, Yonhap reported.

North Korea conducted a simulated nuclear attack drill on targets across South Korea on Thursday, state news agency KCNA reported.

The latest launches came after South Korea and the United States concluded their 11-day Ulchi Freedom Shield (UFS) drills on Thursday. North Korea denounced the drills as an invasion rehearsal.

South Korea and the United States have held combined air drills, involving at least one US B-1B strategic bomber.

In March, North Korea said it also launched a strategic cruise missile “armed with a simulated nuclear warhead.”
