As a Delta Airlines Airbus A350 carrying 221 passengers was taxiing onto the runway, its wing clipped the tail of an Endeavor Air CRJ-900 (a subsidiary of Delta Airlines) carrying 56 people waiting to depart for Lafayette, Louisiana.

According to Sky News, the incident caused damage to both planes. According to footage from the scene, the tail of the CRJ-900 was torn off and broken, while the Airbus A350 suffered damage to its wing.

According to Mr. Jason Adams, a passenger on the plane described the sound of metal colliding and a loud bang as "very deafening". There was no fire in the incident.

Delta Airlines confirmed in a statement that no passengers or crew members were injured, but passengers were forced to wait for a replacement flight.

"Following the incident at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Delta worked with each passenger on flights DL295 to Tokyo-Haneda and DL5526 to Lafayette to provide accommodations on alternate aircraft scheduled to depart the afternoon of September 10," according to a statement from Delta Airlines.

The FAA and the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced that they will investigate to clarify the cause of the above incident.
