Ben Tre Police Director holds the position of MobiFone Chairman

Major General Truong Son Lam has held the position of Chairman of the Board of Members of MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation since June 12, replacing Mr. Nguyen Hong Hien - who was recently appointed as Head of the Department of Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee.

Major General Truong Son Lam was born in 1972, from Hoang Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province. He is an information technology engineer from Hanoi University of Science and Technology, a doctorate from the People's Security Academy, and has a high level of political theory.

Before taking on the role of Chairman of the Board of Members of MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation, Major General Truong Son Lam held the position of Director of Ben Tre Provincial Police.

He has many years of experience in the field of cyber security and high-tech crime prevention, and has held the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, Ministry of Public Security.

In February 2025, the Ministry of Public Security took over the right to represent the state capital ownership at MobiFone from the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises.

MobiFone's predecessor was Vietnam Mobile Information Services Company (VMS), established in 1993. This was also the first mobile telecommunications network operator in Vietnam. In December 2014, this enterprise was transformed into MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation.
