Garnacho gets into trouble for posting monkey emoji

On October 24, after Man Utd beat Copenhagen 1-0 in the third round of Group A of the Champions League, Garnacho posted a photo celebrating Onana's penalty save with two gorilla icons on social network X.

He deleted the photo after 15 minutes, but the evidence was still left. The FA is investigating the message.

In 2019, the FA banned Bernardo Silva for one match and fined him $65,000 for using an image of a black cartoon character in a post about his former teammate Benjamin Mendy.

A year later, Edinson Cavani was banned for three games and fined $120,000 for calling a friend in Uruguay a “negrito” (little black man) in an Instagram post. In Uruguay, the term is a term of endearment. However, Cavani deleted the comment and pleaded guilty to the FA’s charges.

Faced with the risk of Garnacho being banned from competition, Onana spoke up to defend: "People cannot impose what is considered offensive on me. I know exactly what Garnacho's message means, which is talent and strength. This issue should not go any further."

Onana made a penalty save when the Man Utd - Copenhagen match entered the 90+7 minute. After Jordan Larsson's left-footed shot, the Cameroon goalkeeper flew in the right direction to save the goal for Man Utd and preserve the victory. Before that, in the 72nd minute, Harry Maguire scored the only goal for the home team.

This is Man Utd's first win in Group A of the Champions League this season, after losing 3-4 to Bayern and 2-3 to Galatasaray. The "Red Devils" are currently third with three points, while Bayern lead with nine points and Galatasaray are second with four points. Copenhagen is bottom with one point.

Man Utd still have a match against Bayern and two away matches against the remaining two opponents.
