During the construction, many engineers, workers, machines, equipment, etc. were mobilized to support the bridge girders from the bank in An Thanh Tay commune, Cu Lao Dung district (Soc Trang province) extending to the Hau river.

Mr. Tran Phong Vu, commander of Truong Son Construction Investment Joint Stock Company said: "Our unit is responsible for the bridge section on the Hau River bank in An Thanh Tay commune, about 250m long.

We installed a total of 42 beams, each weighing about 80 tons. It is expected that all will be installed by the end of December 2024."

Dai Ngai 2 Bridge will support a total of 91 girders, each weighing 80 tons and 40m long.

According to the documents, Dai Ngai 2 bridge is 862m long, with a total of 13 spans, with 91 bridge girders (each girder weighs more than 80 tons, nearly 40m long), the main span is 330m long and is constructed in a cantilever structure.

According to information from Project Management Board 85 (Ministry of Transport, investor), the entire Dai Ngai Bridge project (including Dai Ngai 1 and Dai Ngai 2) has so far achieved about 53% of the volume of the bid packages. Of which, Dai Ngai 1 Bridge connecting Tra Vinh province with Soc Trang was started on December 9.

It is expected that Dai Ngai 2 Bridge will be completed before the Lunar New Year 2025 and put into use in 2025.

Dai Ngai 2 Bridge crosses the Hau River, located in the area adjacent to Tran De estuary connecting Cu Lao Dung district with the mainland, breaking the isolation of this land in the middle of the Hau River.

The Dai Ngai Bridge Project (including Dai Ngai 1 and Dai Ngai 2) on National Highway 60 in Tra Vinh and Soc Trang provinces was approved for investment by the Ministry of Transport in Decision No. 1703/QD-BGTVT dated December 23, 2022.

This is a group A project, a special-grade road traffic project with a total investment of VND 7,962,148 billion, funded by the state budget.

The project has a total route length of about 15.14km, starting at the intersection with National Highway 54, in Hung Hoa commune (Tieu Can district, Tra Vinh province); ending at the intersection with Nam Song Hau national highway, in Long Duc commune (Long Phu district, Soc Trang province).

Heavy machinery and equipment lift the 80-ton bridge girder onto the span.

The project includes two main bridge works (Dai Ngai 1 and Dai Ngai 2 bridges) which are fully invested with four lanes. The investment route is divided into two phases with phase one consisting of two lanes with a cross-section width of 12m, design speed of 80km/h, and high-class A1 road surface.

The Dai Ngai Bridge project is the dream of people in coastal provinces in the Mekong Delta. Once completed, all ferry crossing points will be eliminated, shortening the distance from coastal provinces in the Mekong Delta to Ho Chi Minh City by about 80km, connecting the entire National Highway 60 to improve transportation capacity for the region.
