The FAA investigation comes after Boeing suffered a serious electrical problem with the door plug on a 737 Max 9 last week on Alaska Airlines Flight 1282, CNN reported.

An electrical plug on the fuselage exploded on January 5, causing a hole in the side of the plane carrying 177 people at an altitude of more than 5,400m after taking off from Portland, Oregon.

The FAA said the investigation will focus on whether Boeing ensured that finished products conformed to approved designs and were in safe operating conditions as required by FAA regulations. Boeing said it will cooperate fully and transparently with the FAA in the investigations.
