Epson's EcoTank monochrome printer series is considered one of the most sustainable products.
Research by NatWest found that 57.5% of UK SMEs said sustainability had a major influence on their decision-making, according to Management Today . Sustainability is increasingly important to consumers, with 75% of UK adults worried about climate change, while Gen Z is adopting more sustainable behaviours as a norm.
There are a number of steps businesses can take to ensure they are on track to achieve their sustainability goals. One of these is investing in one of the most important components of any office – printers.
Epson’s EcoTank monochrome printer series is considered one of the sustainable products that businesses can invest in to increase work efficiency while still ensuring environmental protection standards. With the ability to print optimally up to 20 pages per minute according to ISO standards, the new Epson EcoTank M1170 and M2170 meet the needs of businesses printing black and white documents with daily usage intensity.
With each ink bottle costing over 270,000 VND for up to 6,000 printed pages, businesses only spend an average of 45 VND per printed page. The printhead warranty is 4 years or 50,000 pages (whichever comes first).
With its energy-saving and environmental protection features, EcoTank will sell more than 6 million units in India in 2022.
According to Indiantextilemagazine , Epson retained its No. 1 position in the Indian inkjet printer market in 2022, thanks to its EcoTank series which is economical and environment-friendly. Epson’s EcoTank series of printers are powered by Heat-Free technology (which consumes less power than laser printers) thus saving money and protecting the environment.
The company says its range of printers reflects its philosophy of using efficient, compact and precise innovation to enrich people’s lives. In 2022, Epson sold over 6 million EcoTank printers in India and over 70 million printers worldwide.
In the coming years, Epson said its focus will remain on reducing the environmental impact of its products and services as well as its supply chain, achieving sustainability in a circular economy. At the same time, the company will push the boundaries of the industry through innovation, openness and contributions to international environmental initiatives.
The trend of sustainable development is no longer strange to the world community. Although it has received much support, this trend in Vietnam is still a big "bottleneck" for small and medium enterprises.
The reason is that environmentally friendly products always come with strict inspection standards and meticulous processing steps, requiring production and labor costs that are often more expensive than conventional mass products. With simple usage needs, most products with lower prices are always the first choice of consumers.
However, with the popularity of sustainable lifestyles, products in the environmentally friendly category are increasingly receiving more attention from consumers for the long-term benefits they bring, thereby the production scale of these products is also more widely developed, and prices are also optimized to meet the needs of more people.
"Contributing more than 70% of global carbon emissions, businesses need to make strong commitments and actions towards a green economy through transforming production technology and using energy efficiently...", Mr. Tran Ngoc Liem, Director of VCCI Ho Chi Minh City branch shared. In addition, according to the "Business Guidebook: Towards a Low Carbon & Net Zero Emissions Future", each business holds key roles in mitigating global warming through access to innovation and sustainable technology, investing in research and deployment of new energy technologies as well as applying energy efficiency measures.
However, efforts to improve environmental issues today are not only the responsibility of "giants" such as the government or large enterprises, but also small and medium enterprises can respond and support in many different aspects. One of the most basic and practical contributions that businesses can make right away is to change their electricity usage habits and choose daily office equipment with the priority criteria of saving energy and materials used.
