On November 5, a representative of Hung Vuong General Hospital said that the child was admitted to the hospital with a torn lower eyelid and was in pain. His family took him for rabies and tetanus shots. The doctor diagnosed the wound on the lower eyelid and the ruptured tear duct under the right eye as a result of a dog bite.

The surgical team sutured the eyelid wound and reconstructed the torn tear duct in the right eye. Fortunately, the surgery was successful, and the tear duct was reconnected. Patients with torn tear ducts that are not reconnected will experience watery eyes, affecting daily activities and causing eye infections.

According to doctors, cases where young children are often attacked by dogs in the head, face, and neck are very dangerous, leaving serious consequences. When children are bitten by dogs, parents need to clean the wound under running water to remove pathogens. Then, use gauze or a clean cloth to gently bandage, helping to stop the bleeding as well as limit bacterial attacks. Quickly take the victim to the nearest medical center for timely support and treatment.

Doctors recommend that families with small children should limit their dog ownership. Pets should be vaccinated against rabies, kept in a remote area, muzzled, and children should be reminded to avoid contact or playing with dogs while they are eating or sleeping.
