Around midnight on January 13, an earthquake occurred in the western region quite close to the center of Hanoi. This was the first time the epicenter was recorded in this area.

The Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center (Institute of Geophysics) informed: at 00:05:09 (Hanoi time) on January 13, a 2.8-magnitude earthquake occurred at the coordinates 20.746 degrees North latitude - 105.645 degrees East longitude, with a focal depth of about 10km.

The epicenter of the earthquake was in Luong Son district, Hoa Binh province. This area is about 30km west of Hanoi. The Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center is still monitoring this earthquake.
