The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) continues to issue documents to relevant units in the aviation industry to deploy plans to prevent and respond to storm No. 4.
According to meteorological forecasts, on September 19, the tropical depression strengthened into storm No. 4, affecting operations at airports in the Northern and Central regions.
Therefore, to ensure safe operations during the time when storm No. 4 makes landfall, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requests agencies and units to proactively monitor the developments of tropical depression/storm No. 4 with the spirit of prevention and control in advance, from afar, ensuring on-site readiness.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also decided to temporarily stop receiving and operating aircraft at Dong Hoi Airport from 3-10pm on September 19.
Regarding the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested ACV to direct airports located in the area affected by storm No. 4 (Dong Hoi Airport, Da Nang International Airport, Phu Bai International Airport, Chu Lai Airport and Vinh Airport) to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to inspect the airport infrastructure system, communication system... to promptly detect and handle damage (if any) to ensure the safety of works, stations, and ensure safety for operations at airports.
At the same time, arrange 24/7 duty, proactively update meteorological information to promptly propose appropriate and safe exploitation plans.
Regarding the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested the aviation meteorological agency to continue to regularly monitor and update meteorological bulletins to report to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Aviation Search and Rescue to consider and decide on operations at airports; at the same time, provide timely information to airports, airlines and relevant agencies and units.
In addition, notify aviation information in accordance with current regulations regarding the temporary suspension of aircraft reception at Dong Hoi airport; direct flight operations units to ensure absolute safety.
For airlines, the Department requires them to proactively adjust flight schedules according to the plan to temporarily suspend operations at Dong Hoi airport; notify passengers of the plan to adjust flight schedules to/from this airport.
Direct flight crews to add extra fuel for flights to airports in the storm-affected area in case they have to wait and divert to an alternate airport.
The Department also requested the Northern and Central airport authorities to direct airport authority representatives at airports to organize inspections and supervision of storm prevention and control work of agencies and units operating at airports, ensuring that storm prevention and control work of units is carried out in accordance with the 4 on-site motto.
