These days, people in the districts of Quy Chau, Quy Hop, Que Phong, Ky Son... (Nghe An) are excitedly celebrating Independence Day.
In many localities, art troupes prepare gongs, every household hangs red flags with yellow stars, makes cakes, prepares rice wine, chicken, pork... to offer to ancestors, to celebrate Independence Day.
Mr. Sam Van Chung, Dom 2 village, Chau Phong commune, Quy Chau district, shared: “Every year, on September 2, Thai people in the villages celebrate in a joyful and healthy atmosphere. Early in the morning, we will catch chickens, slaughter them, and in the middle of the session, we will hold a ceremony to worship our ancestors and Uncle Ho, praying for family harmony, children to study well, the village to be rich and especially for the country to be prosperous…”.
According to Mr. Chung, on Independence Day, all villages have cultural, artistic and sports activities such as gong performances, folk dancing, drinking rice wine, etc.
In the border district of Ky Son, the Mong community in the border area has a unique way of celebrating Independence Day, associated with the bull fighting festival.
Mr. Tho Ba Re, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ky Son district, said that the Mong people's Independence Day lasts from August 29 to September 2. To celebrate Independence Day, the Mong people have prepared for many days in advance.
“The Mong people have chosen their most beautiful costumes. The boys wear scarves, necklaces, and carry pipes on their shoulders. The girls wear flared skirts. The Mong people hang the national flag to celebrate National Day.
From remote villages, young men and women, students, and children flock to the central village to participate in games... This is also an opportunity for Ky Son district to introduce its unique traditional culture and attractive destinations to tourists from near and far...", Mr. Re shared.
Ms. Pit Thi Ha, Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Na Loi Commune, Ky Son District, said that on the occasion of the 79th National Day, the Party Committee and Command of Border Guard Company 223 (in Pieng Hong village, Bo Nhia and Huoi Lom clusters, Noong Het District, Laos) bordering 3 communes: Na Loi, Doc May, Keng Du (Ky Son District, Nghe An) visited and congratulated on Independence Day.
“This year on Independence Day, we are happy, excited and proud that the Vietnam - Laos friendship is always respected and nurtured; especially when you come to celebrate Independence Day with the cadres, people and police, military and border forces in our Na Loi commune.
In Quy Hop district, since the afternoon of September 1, many villages have been bustling with the scene of buying fruits, offerings; slaughtering pork, buying incense and flowers... to offer to Uncle Ho's altar.
Ms. Vi Thi Tam, Chau Ly commune, shared: “This year, the economic conditions of the people here are better, so we celebrate Independence Day more grandly. This is an opportunity for young and old people to review the meaning and heroic memories of our nation.”
According to Mr. Cao Duy Thai, Chairman of Chau Ly Commune People's Committee, local people celebrate Independence Day with a song created on the first Independence Day.
“Over time, many generations, young and old, men and women, have memorized the lyrics, and every time there are distinguished guests visiting or the village celebrates a festival, they sing them together in the passion of love for the land and people. Every time it is sung, the lyrics remind us of the first Independence Day in the Muong Choong countryside,” Mr. Thai shared.
