In the opening match on October 7, the Vietnamese futsal team easily defeated the host team Mongolia with a score of 6-1. In the second match, against the Nepal team, which is ranked even lower than the Mongolia team in the world futsal rankings (127 compared to 122), the players of coach Diego Giuztozzi continued to have an easy match.

Coach Diego Giuztozzi made a few changes to the starting lineup of the Vietnam futsal team, with goalkeeper Nguyen Huu Phuc replacing Ho Van Y, and defender Dinh Cong Vien replacing Nhan Gia Hung. The front line still had midfielders Chau Doan Phat and Tu Minh Quang, but striker Nguyen Minh Tri replaced Nguyen Thinh Phat from the start.

This number of personnel is rotated based on the situation on the field with reserve players outside the field, always helping the Vietnamese futsal team maintain a solid position and play very diversely against weaker opponents.

The Vietnamese futsal team opened the score 1-0 in the 2nd minute by Chau Doan Phat. In the 9th minute, Duong Ngoc Linh raised the score to 2-0. But it was not until near the end of the first half that the Vietnamese futsal team continued to consolidate their advantage with the third goal scored by Nguyen Minh Tri, to take a 3-0 lead after only the first half.

In the second half, the Vietnamese futsal team scored two more goals by Tu Minh Quang and Chau Doan Phat to win 5-0 against Nepal and also take the top spot in the group (ahead of the Korean team by goal difference).

With this result, the Vietnamese futsal team and the Korean team (both had 2 wins against the Nepal team with a score of 5-1 and the Mongolia team 6-1), have quickly won 2 spots in Group D to the final round of the 2024 Asian futsal tournament (taking place in Thailand from April 17 to 28, 2024).

In the final match of the group stage, the Vietnamese futsal team will meet the Korean team at 1:00 p.m. on October 11, with the result only determining the first and second place in the group.
