Do Nguyen Thanh Chung has arrived in Ninh Binh: 'The future awaits me in Vietnam'

Do Nguyen Thanh Chung is getting used to the weather in Vietnam.

Do Nguyen Thanh Chung was born and raised in Bulgaria by Vietnamese parents. At the age of 20, he decided to return to his homeland to pursue new dreams in Vietnamese football. He shared his joy at joining Ninh Binh FC and expressed his excitement about the ambitious plans the club has put forward. Do Nguyen Thanh Chung is eager to play football with his new teammates, as soon as he gets used to the hot and humid climate of Vietnam.

“The weather in Vietnam is very hot right now, compared to Bulgaria. It might take me a few days or weeks to really get used to the climate in Vietnam,” Thanh Chung said. However, he is still excited about this change.

"Up until now, I have only watched the Vietnam national team compete. From now on, I will start watching the V-League. The Vietnamese players all have a lot of potential. I will plan to watch them live or play on the field to see how these players play in the V-League," Thanh Chung said.

After more than a decade with Slavia Sofia, where he grew up and played professionally since 2013, Do Nguyen Thanh Chung could not hide his regret at having to say goodbye to his old team. “It is difficult to say goodbye to the team that I have been with for such a long time. But this is life. You need to seize new opportunities, show yourself in a new team, a new environment. The future awaits me in Vietnam,” the 20-year-old midfielder confided.

Future with Vietnam team

Regarding the possibility of playing for the Vietnam national team, Do Nguyen Thanh Chung expressed his desire to demonstrate his ability and is ready to wait for the decision from the head coach. He said he can play in many different positions in midfield and hopes to be called up to the national team in the near future.

However, due to the fact that he is still completing the procedure to change his football nationality from Bulgaria to Vietnam, the possibility of him joining the national team this year is not high. Do Nguyen Thanh Chung playing for the youth team or the Vietnam national team is also one of the goals that Ninh Binh Club set when bringing him back.

According to the announcement from Ninh Binh Club on July 27, recruiting Thanh Chung not only shows the long-term vision of the team but also the desire that he can contribute to the U.23 Vietnam team or the Vietnam national team if given the opportunity. Completing the football citizenship procedure will be an important step for Thanh Chung to officially qualify to represent the Vietnam team in upcoming international tournaments.
