What's special about Tao Quan: Ticket fever like "Brother", 1 billion VND/1 minute of advertising

(Dan Tri) - First aired in 2003, "Tao Quan" is a familiar program and is eagerly awaited by audiences every time Tet comes. After more than 20 years, "Tao Quan" still has its own special and interesting things.


Tickets to see "Tao Quan" are being advertised at prices close to those of "Anh Trai" shows.

As soon as there was official information that the show Meet at the end of the year - Tao Quan 2025 would air on the evening of the 29th of Tet, many people started hunting for tickets to watch the show.

Tickets to watch the live recording of Tao Quan are all issued by the Organizing Committee in the form of invitation tickets, so to own a ticket, viewers need to be given a ticket or buy it from the ticket owner.

According to the reporter's records, before January 12, a pair of Tao Quan tickets was being offered on the "black market" for between 1 million and 8 million VND. There were cases where the price was offered for 10 million VND/pair.

This price is almost equivalent to the ticket price for the show Anh trai vu ngan cong gai , the official price is 800,000 VND - 8 million VND/ticket, the show Anh trai say hi is 500,000 VND - 10 million VND/ticket. Up to now, the ticket price for Tao Quan 2025 is being sold more flexibly than in 2024 (fluctuating from 12-14 million VND/pair).

On Facebook groups, most sellers require a deposit to hold the tickets. Some require a deposit of up to 50% of the ticket, and warn that the closer the filming date gets, the higher the ticket price will be, and if you delay, you will no longer have the chance.

"Currently, the Organizing Committee has not announced the official recording date with this price. In a few days, closer to the recording date, the ticket price will increase. Each ticket will increase by 1-2 million VND," a ticket seller shared.

At the same time, there are accounts warning and claiming that "no one in our group has tickets yet, so all invitations or deposits are scams. We only deal directly with physical tickets, we do not accept deposits from anyone. Note, Facebook locks the page to protect it, it is a scam".

Faced with the proliferation of "black market tickets" on social media and ticket hunting groups for the 2025 Tao Quan recording, People's Artist Tu Long recently had to speak up on his personal page.

He wrote: "Since the news that Tao Quan Xuan At Ty 2025 will return on the evening of the 29th of Tet has been spreading, the whole village has been rushing to buy tickets like they are going to a festival.

On social networks, "ticket markets" have sprung up like mushrooms, with buyers and sellers bustling about, with more interactions than the combined reports of the Taos. And ticket prices are insane, they range from 1 million VND to 7 million VND/pair depending on location. In particular, if you want to reserve a good seat, you have to make a deposit in advance.

But unfortunately, the Organizing Committee - Vietnam Television, has not yet confirmed the official recording schedule. Tao Quan tickets are not available just anyone can buy. If you want to buy, you must check the official information, to avoid falling into the situation of Tet with a broken heart like Tao Kinh Te who lost his rice book.

Billions per minute of advertising

For many years now, advertising costs on the Tao Quan program have been recorded at high levels. Since 2022, the price of a 30-second advertisement has reached over 640 million VND.

According to the Television Advertising and Services Center (TVAd) under Vietnam Television, in 2024, the advertising price list for the Tao Quan program will be set as follows: 10 seconds for 322 million VND; 15 seconds for 378 million VND; 20 seconds for 484 million VND; 30 seconds for 645 million VND.

Thus, if any brand wants to appear for about 1 minute in the Tao Quan 2024 program, it will have to spend at least nearly 1.3 billion VND. The above price does not include VAT.

In the 2022 and 2023 Tao Quan programs, the brand that "spent the most" was a bank when it "occupied the airwaves" with an advertisement lasting 140 seconds (2.3 minutes) in 2 years. Based on the 2023 price list announced by TVAd, this bank had to spend at least about 3 billion VND to appear in the program.

Advertising revenue in Tao Quan also regularly reaches nearly 30 billion VND, specifically, in 2021 it reached nearly 27 billion VND, in 2023 it was about 28 billion VND. This shows the strong attraction of Tao Quan to brands, despite the high cost.

Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, media expert Nguyen Ngoc Long said that the above figure shows the stability and importance of this program in the field of media and advertising in Vietnam.

Mr. Long assessed that although there were small fluctuations in revenue over the years, overall, the program still maintained great appeal to advertisers.

This stability not only reflects the value of Tao Quan as an indispensable part of Vietnamese Tet culture, but also shows the program's ability to attract audiences, especially on New Year's Eve.

“For advertisers, this is a prime time to reach a large audience, which explains the show's high prices and steady advertising revenue.

Overall, despite the many fluctuations in the advertising market, Tao Quan is still an attractive option for businesses wanting to promote their brands and products.

This not only demonstrates the commercial value of the program but also reflects the strong connection between the program and the Vietnamese people," Mr. Long affirmed.

Mr. Long further analyzed, assuming 30% of Vietnam's population, equivalent to about 30 million people, watch Tao Quan . When dividing the advertising revenue of 30 billion VND by 30 million people, the cost of reaching each person is 1,000 VND.

"This is a reasonable number considering the brand value of Tao Quan - a program that is expected and loved every year. The combination of the program's high popularity and special position in Tet culture in Vietnam increases the value of advertising on this platform," said Mr. Long.

According to this expert, in terms of economics and branding, 1,000 VND per viewership is not a high number, especially when compared to the influence and connection that Tao Quan has with the audience.

If you have the resources, investing in advertising during this program can be a good decision, especially when you want to make a strong impression and achieve widespread coverage.

People's Artist Tu Long: "Talented" with the most roles and special songs

Over the past 20 years of broadcasting, while other artists have been attached to one role, People's Artist Tu Long has taken on many different roles: From Drainage God, Cultural and Educational God, Social God, Sports God, Land God, Traffic God, Network God... to "strange" God roles.

Van Dung: Female artist with the most appearances

Van Dung is the female artist who has appeared in Tao Quan the most times and almost continuously (except in 2024) since the show aired in 2003.

When Tao Quan 2003 aired, Van Dung was assigned the important role of Tao Xa Hoi. After that, the female artist took on many different roles such as : Tao Y te, Tao Giao duc, Tao Kinh te, Tao Dien luc, Tao Dan sinh...

Van Dung shared that after more than 20 years of playing Tao Quan , for her, the most successful and favorite role is Tao Y te.

This year, she returned to the Tao Quan program with other familiar faces such as: People's Artist Quoc Khanh, People's Artist Tu Long, Meritorious Artist Chi Trung, Meritorious Artist Quang Thang.

Sharing in the recent VTV Connection program, Van Dung said: "Our old generation will return with a new breeze and hope that all the efforts we put in for 1 month will be the best and most quintessential to send to the audience."

Besides the familiar formats, Tao Quan also stands out with parody songs and trending lines that easily go viral, creating word-of-mouth effects in the community and on social networks.

Reruns regularly reach hundreds of thousands, even more than 10 million views on YouTube alone. Short clips of individual situations and stories on social networks also receive high attention and interaction, showing the great attraction of Tao Quan.
