More than 700,000 2G subscribers "2-way locked" from October 15

Mr. Nguyen Phong Nha, Deputy Director of the Department of Telecommunications, said that from October 15, network operators will begin to stop providing two-way services (including listening and calling) for subscribers still using the 2G Only network.

A representative from the Telecommunications Department said that at the beginning of 2024, the entire network still had over 18 million subscribers using 2G terminals. However, by October 10, there were only 771,072 subscribers in this category, accounting for less than 1% of mobile subscribers nationwide.

"Today's impressive results demonstrate the responsibility, efforts and determination of network operators in implementing the policies of the Ministry of Information and Communications," Mr. Nha emphasized.

5G waves will be expanded in Vietnam

In a recent announcement, a representative of the VinaPhone network said that from October 13, VinaPhone customers will be able to experience 5G for free in areas with 5G coverage. At the same time, this unit shared that the VinaPhone 5G network will soon be covered nationwide.

According to the plan, by the end of 2024, VNPT will complete the installation of over 3,000 VinaPhone 5G transmission stations to ensure strong, stable and continuous coverage, especially in urban areas and major economic centers nationwide.

Viettel also announced plans to launch 5G networks in 63/63 provinces and cities in October. Since the beginning of October, 5G packages have been continuously announced on a number of Viettel's sales websites.

Meanwhile, MobiFone announced that customers will be able to experience 5G services starting in November. At the same time, MobiFone is also implementing a model of infrastructure sharing cooperation with carriers with suitable 5G bands.

Prostitution and one-night stand advertisements are rampant on Facebook.

In recent days, many Facebook users in Vietnam said they continuously saw advertising posts with content related to prostitution brokerage services or "Sugar Baby" connections.

"Beauty ready to serve you. Present at the designated location within half an hour. Beautiful appearance, private service upon request. Please contact via Messenger for more details," reads a Facebook advertisement for prostitution services.

When messaging these pages, the “customer service” will redirect users to the Telegram app to continue the exchange of information and provide services. These promotional posts appear not only on Facebook’s news feed but also in the Messenger messaging app.

Fake Zalo website to install malware

When searching with the keyword "Zalo web" on Google, the results always have 2 addresses "zaloweb.me" and "zaloweb.vn". Security experts from Bkav said that these are all fake websites created by bad guys to trick users.

When accessing these fake websites, users may not recognize them because they are designed with the same interface as the real website. The information on the website is also the content of instructions for logging into Zalo on the computer in many different ways.

However, when clicking on the "login to Zalo on the web" button, depending on the time, users may be redirected to football betting advertising pages, adult content or pages containing viruses.
