As the first district of Hanoi recognized by the Prime Minister as meeting advanced new rural standards in 2023, Thanh Tri today not only changes its appearance but also improves people's lives, becoming an ideal model in the new rural movement of the whole country.
Strong transformation
Over the past years, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi city has emerged as a bright spot in the new rural construction movement. From a rural district with many difficulties, Thanh Tri has gradually transformed into a modern area, with remarkable changes in infrastructure, economy, and cultural life.
Officials and people of Thanh Tri district received the certificate of recognition of the district meeting the Advanced New Rural Standards in 2023.
Thanh Tri has not only changed in appearance but also transformed strongly in the thinking and awareness of the people. The consensus and contribution of the people is the foundation for the success of the new rural construction program.
Village roads, which used to be muddy during the rainy season, have now been concreted and paved. The lighting system, clean water and public works have also been significantly improved. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Le, a farmer in Dai Ang commune, "Not only has the infrastructure been improved, but we also have many new business opportunities. The clean vegetable growing model has helped my family not only improve their income but also create trust from consumers, bringing our products to large stores in the city."
Thanh Tri District has invested heavily in infrastructure to create favorable conditions for people and businesses to develop the economy. Roads and bridges have been renovated and upgraded to eliminate the situation of degraded roads, causing difficulties in transporting agricultural products.
A village chief in Vinh Quynh commune shared: "In the past, agricultural products had to be transported through narrow, muddy roads, which took a lot of time and money. Now, thanks to the expanded roads, wholesale has become more convenient, and my family also has a more stable income."
In addition, the school system, health stations, and traditional markets have also been improved, improving service quality and meeting people's needs. Schools are more spacious, fully equipped with learning facilities, ensuring that children have access to education in the best environment. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, a parent in Ta Thanh Oai commune, emotionally shared: "Before, we were worried because our children had to study in difficult conditions, but now they can study in modern and fully equipped schools."
Economic development associated with clean agriculture
Building new rural areas does not only stop at developing infrastructure but also focuses on improving people's spiritual life. Thanh Tri district has organized many cultural and sports activities, contributing to creating a healthy living environment and connecting the community. Cultural and artistic movements are also encouraged to develop to preserve and promote local cultural identity. According to the Director of the Thanh Tri District Cultural and Sports Center, developing cultural life has not only helped to improve people's spirit, but also contributed to maintaining cultural identity and forming a united community.
The achievements of building new rural areas have brought a new look and vitality to Thanh Tri homeland.
People are also gradually becoming aware of the importance of maintaining environmental hygiene and protecting natural resources during the development process. Many households actively participate in environmental protection movements, such as not littering and building tanks to treat waste and domestic wastewater.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan in Ta Thanh Oai commune said: "We not only focus on economic development but also pay great attention to environmental issues. Only by keeping the environment clean and beautiful can life be truly sustainable."
Another bright spot in Thanh Tri’s new rural development process is economic development associated with clean and sustainable agriculture. Thanks to the VietGAP model and modern farming methods, many households have significantly increased their income. Thanh Tri’s clean agricultural products are not only supplied to the Hanoi market but also consumed in other provinces and cities, creating a unique brand for this land.

In addition, safe livestock farming models that minimize environmental pollution have also been implemented. People no longer raise livestock using traditional methods, but have applied advanced technology, limiting the use of chemicals, helping to increase productivity and product quality. Many Thanh Tri residents expressed their joy when seeing their products trusted and highly appreciated by consumers, not only for their quality but also for their safe production methods.
Despite many proud achievements, Thanh Tri still faces many challenges in the process of building new rural areas. Some localities still face difficulties in waste treatment, environmental protection and agricultural planning. However, with the strong determination of the local government and the cooperation of the people, Thanh Tri is constantly improving and moving towards the goal of sustainable development.
Thanh Tri today is not only a district with a new look, but also a symbol of the will to rise, of the spirit of solidarity and the desire for change of an entire community. The construction of new rural areas here does not stop at material works but also involves changes in the thinking and awareness of each person. With the joint efforts of both the government and the people, Thanh Tri will certainly go further, becoming an ideal model for many other localities across the country.
