High blood pressure, fatty liver, kidney stones attack people in Vi Thuy

On April 7, DHG Pharma, AloBacsi, Daisy Media and in coordination with the Hau Giang Provincial Red Cross and the Hau Giang Provincial Department of Health completed the mission of sending a team of doctors to take care of the health of 1,000 people in Vi Thuy commune, Vi Thuy district.

The program is even more meaningful when implemented on World Health Day, in line with the spirit of 2024 "My health, my rights" and before the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay New Year of the Khmer people - the main population of Vi Thuy land.

Under the scorching sun, more than 30 doctors and pharmacists worked tirelessly, examining and dispensing medicine to 700 adults and 300 children. 3 ultrasound machines operated at full capacity, continuously performing nearly 300 cases, and 1 electrocardiogram machine performed over 100 cases. Thanks to that, diseases were promptly detected for the people.

In adults, the most commonly reported diseases are fatty liver, kidney stones, lipid disorders, arthritis, osteoarthritis, gastroesophageal reflux, myocardial ischemia, etc. Meanwhile, respiratory tract infections are the most common problem in children. There are still cases of stunted growth and much lower weight than age.

Besides periodontitis, tooth decay is a very common condition in both adults and children in Vi Thuy commune. In addition, the team of doctors also promptly detected cases of gallbladder polyps, suspected liver tumors, and colon tumors that needed to be transferred to higher levels for further diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Diseases from eating and living habits

During the examination, according to the doctors' assessment, unhealthy living habits such as eating too salty or too sweet, preferring meat to fish, drinking little water while using soft drinks instead of filtered water, not brushing teeth, not scaling teeth, not exercising because they think heavy labor is enough... are the most important causes leading to the above diseases.

In particular, the most common is hypertension. Notably, people know about the disease but do not take medication regularly, "forget" or "do not have time to take it", only take it when they are too tired, dizzy... leading to ineffective control of hypertension. Many cases have to use emergency antihypertensive drugs right at the examination.

The issue of self-medication or not taking the full course of medication as directed was also mentioned by the doctors in the group. From this reality, in addition to examining and dispensing medication, the medical team also spent time instructing people on scientific nutrition, proper use of medication, and how to adjust their mental state to avoid anxiety disorders caused by other diseases.
