Tien Hai Town is the district town of Tien Hai District, located in Thai Binh Economic Zone, 21km from Thai Binh City, 7.5km from Thanh Ne Town (Kien Xuong) and 16km from Diem Dien Town (Thai Thuy), sharing the National Highway 37B urban technical economic corridor with these urban areas. The expanded Tien Hai Town area has many important traffic routes running through it such as: coastal road, National Highway 37B, DT. 465, DT. 462... It plays the role of an important economic exchange hub in the region, contributing to promoting the economic and social development of Tien Hai District in particular and Thai Binh Province in general.

According to the Project, the expanded Tien Hai town area is a coastal urban area in the Southeast of Thai Binh province, playing a role in linking Thai Binh's urban areas with other urban areas in the Northern Delta region. The total natural area of ​​Tien Hai town and expanded communes is over 3,300 hectares, including Tien Hai town and 4 communes: Tay Giang, Tay Ninh, Dong Lam, Dong Co according to the project to adjust the general planning for construction of Tien Hai town and surrounding areas until 2030 according to the criteria of a type IV urban area. According to statistics in 2022, the population of Tien Hai district is about 217,400 people; in the expanded Tien Hai town area is about 43,500 people (including permanent population and converted population); the natural population growth rate in the area is about 1.17% in 2022.

Concluding the meeting, comrade Nguyen Quang Hung, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that upgrading the expanded Tien Hai town area will create momentum for the urban system of the province and surrounding areas to develop more quickly and comprehensively. Based on the content of the Project as well as the discussions and comments of the delegates of departments and branches, the Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested Tien Hai district and the consulting unit to continue to absorb, supplement and complete the Project to report to the People's Committee to submit to the Provincial People's Council in the next session. In particular, it is necessary to review the achieved criteria and the unachieved criteria to have a plan to complete according to regulations, ensuring synchronization and efficiency; Tien Hai district reviews the district planning, linking the development of Tien Hai town with the development of Thai Binh Economic Zone, industrial parks and tourist areas in the district.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction, together with Tien Hai district and the consulting unit, to urgently supplement and complete the processes and procedures to submit to the Ministry of Construction after the Provincial People's Council passed the Resolution on the Project.
