Speed up construction of 2 parking lots to reduce traffic congestion in Da Lat

On the afternoon of August 7, Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, chaired a working session with departments, branches, communes and wards to deploy bus stations, parking lots, and investment solutions for smart parking lots in Da Lat area.

Currently, Da Lat area has 3 bus stations, 23 public parking lots and about 40 internal parking lots serving tourist areas, supermarkets, markets and hotels. The total area is about 9.3 hectares. The current capacity only meets about 10% of the parking needs of residents in the area. If adding the number of tourists coming during the peak tourist season, the current capacity only meets 6.2% of the calculated parking needs.

Previously, in 2023, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee approved detailed planning for two large parking lot projects to reduce the load on Da Lat's inner city. However, to date, both projects have not been implemented.

Specifically, the parking lot at the beginning of Prenn Pass (Hiep Thanh Commune) has an area of ​​over 38 hectares, with a capacity of 790 bus spaces (50 seats), about 122 minibus spaces and about 200 taxi and car spaces, connecting to National Highway 20. The parking lot combined with the bus station at the Darahoa intersection (in sub-area 144A, Lac Duong Commune) has an area of ​​36.69 hectares, serving about 817 bus parking spaces, 83 minibus parking spaces, 60 taxi and car parking spaces, connecting to National Highway 27C. The total investment is about over 884 billion VND.

The Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to preside over reviewing the current land status, planning documents, and procedural documents to speed up the implementation of the two parking lot projects above, in order to reduce traffic congestion and overload in the central area of ​​Da Lat.

Mr. Hai requested localities to focus on site clearance to complete the ring road as soon as possible, relieving traffic pressure in Da Lat. Localities in the Da Lat area continue to coordinate with Lam Dong Provincial Police to regulate and reduce pressure on traffic infrastructure, solving parking needs of residents and tourists. In addition, localities need to pilot the smart parking project in the Da Lat market area and Lien Nghia market, Duc Trong commune.
