Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Le Cong Thanh spoke at the 8th Forum "Managers - Journalists - Enterprises with Natural Resources and Environment" - 2024 with the theme "Green economy - responsibility of producers".
Many businesses have been taking green business as a strategy and competitive advantage. Many economic groups and large enterprises have also quickly joined in, promoting green transformation to respond to climate change and develop a low-carbon economy, towards the goal of Net Zero.
However, this change mainly occurs in large enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises, while the number of small and medium enterprises is quite large but has not been adequately concerned and has not had clear changes. Therefore, in the coming time, enterprises need to be determined to strongly transform, especially to improve their understanding and awareness of their responsibilities in protecting the environment, responding to climate change, and grasping relevant regulations both domestically and internationally.
"From that reality, it shows that in the coming time, we need to have strong enough policies to concretize the viewpoint "Investing in the environment is investing in sustainable development"; at the same time, mobilizing social resources and support from the international community. Accordingly, we will propose a new system of viewpoints and new thinking to meet the context of the vision to 2050. The consistent viewpoint is that the State plays a role in creating and leading, businesses and people are the center and implementing subjects, along with the participation of political and social organizations..." - Deputy Minister Le Cong Thanh said.

In recent times, the growth rate of Vietnam's green economy has decreased by about 10-12%/year; currently, the scale is estimated at 4-4.5% in the national economy. The green economic transformation is a mandatory requirement in the world with the circular economic model as the tool.
Delegates attending the 8th Forum "Managers - Journalists - Enterprises with Natural Resources and Environment" - 2024 with the theme "Green economy - responsibility of producers".
According to Ms. Chu Thi Kim Thanh, Operations Director of the Vietnam Packaging Recycling Alliance (PROVIETNAM), businesses are considered a "shock force" and "crucial" force for growth and development of a circular economy and green growth. We expect that the regulations on waste classification at source, regulations on waste collection, transportation and treatment in the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 will be seriously and effectively implemented by localities.
