Historical mark of the steel land

After a series of heavy defeats, the Saigon puppet government gathered its forces and established a "Remote Defense Line", using Du Long - the northern gateway to Phan Rang as a blocking point. They were determined to defend to the death, turning Ninh Thuan into a "steel shield" to stop the stormy advance of our army.

Faced with that situation, with the spirit of "speed, boldness, determination to win", the army and people of Ninh Thuan, under the direction of the Party Committee and the Military Region 6 Command, closely coordinated with the main forces, creating a combined strength, smashing the enemy's "steel shield". Comrade Ho Mai, former Political Commissar of Ninh Thuan Provincial Military Command, said: Implementing the policy of the Politburo, the Regional Party Committee and Military Region 6, the Ninh Thuan Provincial Party Committee directed the withdrawal of local troops from Bac Ai and Anh Dung districts and a number of other units of the province to supplement Battalion 610, with the task of holding Cau Pass, blocking the enemy from Thanh Son airport to counterattack, protecting Krong-pha district and being ready to coordinate with the main force to liberate Phan Rang. In particular, Special Forces Company 311, with its bravery and intelligence, fought bravely with the militia and local people, repelling 16 enemy counterattacks, contributing to the overall victory.

On April 14, 1975, our army launched an offensive campaign, artillery shelled enemy bases, infantry advanced rapidly, capturing Du Long district and key positions. On the morning of April 16, the attack forces simultaneously attacked, coordinated smoothly, and attacked the enemy's flank, completely destroying them. At 9:30 a.m. the same day, the revolutionary flag flew on the roof of the Provincial Administration Building, Ninh Thuan was completely liberated. The "distant defense line" was broken, opening the door to liberating Saigon, liberating the South, and unifying the country.

Half a century has passed since the liberation and 33 years of re-establishment of the province (April 1, 1992 - April 1, 2025). The Party Committee, government and people of Ninh Thuan are always proud and excited about the achievements made in the past period; at the same time, they are deeply aware of the challenges and difficulties to join hands in building a rich and civilized homeland. In the face of difficulties and hardships, Ninh Thuan has overcome and exploited its existing potentials from energy, renewable energy (wind power, solar power), tourism, and high-tech agriculture. Over the past 10 years, per capita income has increased 4 times, and the poverty rate has decreased from 9.34% to 2.69%. Ninh Thuan's determination, perseverance, and creativity are turning challenges into opportunities, opening up a path of sustainable and hopeful development. Implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 14th Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, although there are still many difficulties and challenges, Ninh Thuan has achieved important results; socio-economic development is comprehensive; it is estimated that 16/18 targets of the Provincial Party Congress Resolution have been completed; the economic scale has increased 1.7 times compared to the beginning of the term, the average GRDP growth rate has reached nearly 9%/year, among the top in the country. The economic structure has shifted in the right direction, bringing Ninh Thuan from a poor province in the country to a middle-income province. The investment and business environment has been improved. Essential inter-regional, connecting and multi-purpose infrastructure has been invested in, effectively promoting the fields of culture, society, environment, people's health care, care for policy beneficiaries... with many advances; preserving and promoting cultural values ​​has achieved positive results. Natural disaster prevention and control, and climate change adaptation have been proactive. Social security issues have received due attention; the socio-economic situation of ethnic minority and mountainous areas has been improved, and the quality of people's lives has been raised.

During his visit and work in Ninh Thuan at the end of 2024, General Secretary To Lam emphasized: Ninh Thuan, located in an important strategic, geo-economic, political and military position, is rich in historical, cultural, revolutionary, resilient and indomitable traditions. Ninh Thuan has a lot of potential and advantages in terms of maritime economy, seaports and logistics service centers... especially energy development (solar power, wind power, nuclear power...) contributing to providing clean energy for the whole country, promoting green economic growth; is an opportunity for Ninh Thuan to take the lead in the global energy transition trend, a foundation to attract large energy-consuming industries; At the same time, Ninh Thuan has rare ecological diversity, many pristine beaches, unique natural beauty, rich local culture, where there are many famous tourist destinations, which are conditions, strengths, and potentials to develop many types of high-quality, international-class resort tourism; Ninh Thuan has many unique, special products that have become famous brands such as: grapes, apples, onions, garlic, shrimp seeds... Ninh Thuan's potential is huge, it needs a new perspective that is modern, global, with the breath of the rising era to awaken the potential of Ninh Thuan land and people.
