Implementing many key projects

Taking us to the area adjacent to Canh Nau commune, Yen The district, Bac Giang province, the starting point of National Highway (QL) 37 - adjacent to Binh Long commune, Vo Nhai district, where Bac Giang province has completed the road waiting to connect with the Thai Nguyen section under construction, Mr. Pham Ngoc Toan, Head of Chua Bua hamlet, excitedly said: The road has been started to meet not only the expectations of the people in the commune but also the whole area. The biggest traffic barrier has now been taken care of and removed by superiors.

Mr. Tran Quang Hung, Chairman of Binh Long Commune People's Committee, said: The completed route will contribute to enhancing traffic connectivity between Thai Nguyen and Bac Giang provinces in general, and between Vo Nhai and Yen The districts in particular; promoting the circulation of goods, developing tourism, and developing the socio-economy. In particular, it will be more convenient for about 400 workers of the commune to go to work in industrial parks in Bac Giang, Bac Ninh and Pho Yen City.

The project of connecting DT.265 from Binh Long commune, Vo Nhai district to Bac Giang is invested by the Provincial Management Board of Investment and Construction of Transport and Agricultural Works. According to the plan, the project will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025. The total area to be cleared is 18.7 hectares, nearly 3.6 hectares have been cleared so far; the disbursement value on the granted capital value is 47/47 billion VND, reaching 100%.

In the 2021-2024 period, Thai Nguyen province will invest in 11 transport infrastructure projects with a total capital of nearly 6,800 billion VND. This shows that despite the limited budget, the provincial leaders have made great determination to take advantage of opportunities, create new space and development space for the acceleration and breakthrough period of the locality in the coming years.

Create links and connections with provinces

Entering 2025 - the year of acceleration and reaching the finish line to successfully complete the goals of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, the Department of Construction has actively advised the province to work with relevant ministries, departments and branches to propose key traffic projects, such as: Upgrading and completing the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen expressway from 4 to 6 lanes; Investing in the road connecting Thai Nguyen - Lang Son provinces (replacing National Highway 1B); Road connecting and linking Thai Nguyen province and Tuyen Quang province.

Right in the first days of this year, the leaders of the two Departments of Construction of Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang had a working program that reached a high consensus on the necessity of investing in the construction of a connecting road connecting the two provinces (section from Km11+500, DT.261 to the border of Tuyen Quang province) to connect with the Thai Nguyen - Tuyen Quang - Yen Bai route.

The connecting route connecting Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang provinces is expected to be designed to meet the standards of a grade II road, with 4 lanes, a design speed of 100km/h, and a roadbed width of 22.5m. The route will continue the project of the connecting route connecting Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang and Vinh Phuc provinces at Ky Phu commune, Dai Tu district (Km11+500, DT.261 route) and end at the Khe Pass area bordering Tuyen Quang and Thai Nguyen provinces.

After this working program, the leaders of the 2 Departments of Construction reported to the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee of the 2 provinces, agreed on the connection plan and location and included it in the public investment plan for the 2026-2030 period to implement the project.

The project investment not only creates momentum to promote socio-economic development of the two provinces of Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang but also contributes to strengthening regional connectivity, reducing travel time in both directions from Tuyen Quang to Thai Nguyen to the provinces of Hai Phong, Lang Son, Quang Ninh...

Along with completing the connecting route between Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang, at the inspection of key transport projects on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) to study and supplement the Lang Son - Thai Nguyen expressway for implementation in the period of 2026-2030. This is the basis for Thai Nguyen and the provinces in the region to renew old growth drivers, attract investment, develop logistics services, etc.

Immediately after the announcement of the Prime Minister, in mid-February in Bac Son district (Lang Son), the Department of Transport of Thai Nguyen and Lang Son provinces had a working session to agree on the contents of the consultation on the implementation of the connecting road project, connecting Lang Son - Thai Nguyen, replacing the old National Highway 1B.

Accordingly, the two sides agreed to consult on the investment proposal for the new Lang Son - Thai Nguyen road, approximately 70km long, with a 4-lane motorway scale and a minimum design speed of 80km/h. The planned route has its starting point (Km0) in Lang Son province; its end point in Thai Nguyen province. The project's connection point between the two provinces is in Tan Thanh commune, Bac Son district and Phuong Giao commune, Vo Nhai district.

Currently, National Highway 1B connecting Thai Nguyen - Lang Son has a total length of 145km. The route is a level IV mountainous road, with 2 lanes, difficult to upgrade, expand, and low speed. The expressway project connecting the two provinces of Thai Nguyen - Lang Son will be invested in to form a main traffic axis connecting the Northwest and Northeast regions, gradually completing an important traffic axis connecting the regions along the East - West economic corridor, connecting from Huu Nghi border gate, Lang Son province with the provinces of Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai, Son La...

In fact, favorable traffic infrastructure conditions, along with open and transparent investment attraction policies, have made Thai Nguyen a bright spot in the Northern Midlands and Mountains region with strong economic growth and a destination for many foreign direct investors.

The development of key traffic routes demonstrates Thai Nguyen's vision in its investment attraction policy for the coming period, helping the province quickly achieve the goals set forth in the Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress.
