Van Don Special Zone organizes National Day to protect national security

On June 13, 2005, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 521/QD-TTg, making August 19 every year the National Day for National Security Protection. Since then, the National Day for National Security Protection has become an annual activity of great significance, contributing to raising awareness and strengthening people's trust in the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, and enhancing "resistance" to the distorted and destructive arguments of hostile and reactionary forces.

In Van Don, the annual festival has attracted a large number of forces and people to actively participate in responding and implementing many effective and practical activities associated with local realities. In 2025 alone, 72/72 villages, neighborhoods, agencies, units and schools registered to strive to meet the standards of "Safety in security and order"; schools coordinated and organized 534 propaganda sessions on drug prevention and control, school violence prevention, Traffic Safety Law, drowning prevention, etc., with over 16,246 teachers and students participating; the special zone police proactively coordinated with the professional departments of the Provincial Police, departments, offices, villages and neighborhoods to organize 1,116 propaganda sessions on the Law on Drug Prevention and Control, Law on Residence, Law on Road Traffic, Law on Fire Prevention and Control, Law on Cyber ​​Security and Law on Entry and Exit, with over 66,000 participants.

From the activities, many models have been formed: Community security cameras, self-management security and order teams, village mediation teams, youth volunteer teams to ensure traffic safety..., contributing to repelling social evils and promoting socio-economic development in the special zone.

Speaking at the festival, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, emphasized: On July 1, 2025, Van Don officially became one of 13 special economic zones of Vietnam. This is an opportunity for Van Don to develop, with the expectation of becoming a "lighthouse" of the national marine economy , reaching the regional level, but at the same time posing many challenges in ensuring national defense and security. Therefore, promoting the role of the masses in protecting national security is an important factor, deciding the success of Van Don special economic zone in the future.

He requested the Party Committee, the government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, and the people's organizations of Van Don Special Zone to continue promoting the good traditions and achievements, effectively implementing the movement of the entire people to protect national security; regularly innovating the content, form, and measures to build the movement of the entire people to protect national security, ensuring suitability, practicality, flexibility, creativity, and suitability to the specific conditions and circumstances of each village, hamlet, residential area, agency, enterprise, and educational institution.

In addition, it is necessary to focus on developing and improving the quality of self-defense, self-management, and self-reconciliation forms from families to residential communities, agencies, units, and educational institutions; regularly propagating, setting examples, encouraging, and promptly rewarding good people, good deeds, and good experiences in building a mass movement to protect national security, in order to use the positive and good to push back and eliminate the negative and bad.

On this occasion, many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the movement to protect national security in Van Don special economic zone were awarded certificates of merit from all levels and sectors.
