
The work “Hanoi in me has a bridge and a river” by author Dao Thi Thu Hien (Hanoi) and 9 other excellent articles received awards in the writing contest “Hanoi and I” organized by Hanoi People Magazine.
On September 27, the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the writing contest "Hanoi and I" took place at Hanoi Book Street, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
According to journalist Vuong Minh Hue, Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi People Magazine and Head of the Organizing Committee, after nearly 2 years of launching, the contest has received the participation of many professional and non-professional authors from 43 provinces and cities across the country and a number of overseas Vietnamese in Korea, Poland, Germany, France, etc.

“The entries are of many genres (essays, memoirs, notes, reports) vividly reflecting the unique cultural features of Hanoi in terms of cuisine, traditional crafts, historical relics, scenic spots, art, heritage...; especially the character of Hanoians from the depths of the past that still 'sparkle' in today's life. Many works convey memories, nostalgia, attachment, love, and nostalgia for Hanoi, expressing perspectives, thoughts, concerns, wishes, and expectations for building the Capital,” journalist Vuong Minh Hue commented.
From nearly 400 entries, the jury unanimously selected the 10 best entries out of 30 entries to the final round to award prizes. The first prize went to the work “Hanoi in me has a bridge and a river” by author Dao Thi Thu Hien (Hanoi); the two second prizes went to the works “Old Quarter: Nostalgia and Love” by author Tra Mi (Hanoi) and “My handbook - Hanoi has been here for a long time” by author Moc Nhien (Thai Nguyen).
The Organizing Committee also awarded 3 Third Prizes, 4 Consolation Prizes and selected 25 works with the highest number of viewers in each month, quarter and year to award secondary prizes.

Speaking at the ceremony, People's Artist Tran Quoc Chiem, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, President of the Hanoi Union of Literature and Arts Associations emphasized: "With many quality works, the contest has become a meaningful literary playground, an opportunity for authors of all ages, across the country to express their perspectives and emotions towards Hanoi; contributing to arousing and fostering love and pride for the land of thousands of years of civilization, adding a voice to building the Capital to become more civilized and modern."
After the success of the first writing contest “Hanoi and I”, Hanoi People Magazine continues to launch the second writing contest with the theme “Hanoi: Village and City Stories”./.
