Taking place on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day September 2 and the People's Public Security Traditional Day, the program carries the message "1 billion steps into the new era", spreading the spirit of patriotism, national solidarity, improving health, protecting the environment and aiming for the goal of Net Zero.
For the first time, the walk was organized simultaneously in 34 provinces and cities, with the participation of 3,321 communes, wards and administrative zones nationwide. People can register online from July 25 to August 16, 2025 on the portal cungvietnamtienbuoc.nhandan.vn, recording their steps to contribute to the common journey.
In particular, from 06:00 to 07:30 on August 16, 2025, millions of people wearing red shirts with yellow stars will turn to the historic Ba Dinh Square to watch the flag-raising ceremony, sing the National Anthem and march forward for a strong Vietnam.
This is not only a sports event responding to the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", but also an activity with profound political and social significance, gathering all generations and all classes of people from urban to rural, mountainous, remote and isolated areas.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh emphasized that this is a special event, contributing to the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day September 2 and the Traditional Day of the People's Public Security.
Sharing about the idea of organizing the program, he said that this activity has been cherished by the Organizing Committee for a long time and became a reality thanks to the close coordination of the Ministry of Public Security. "We have had many discussions to implement the program most effectively," he said.
According to comrade Le Quoc Minh, this walking event was held simultaneously in 34 provinces and cities, spreading to 3,321 communes, wards, and administrative zones across the country. Initially, the expected goal was to attract about 150,000-200,000 participants, recording 1 billion steps in just one hour.
“In addition to the goal of improving public health, the program also contributes to reducing CO2 emissions, moving towards a green lifestyle,” Mr. Le Quoc Minh emphasized and expressed his hope that with the strong participation of the Ministry of Public Security, the scale of implementation will far exceed the initial plan.
Speaking at the press conference, Major General Le Hong Hiep said that the event "Moving Forward with Vietnam" is not only a simple community physical activity but also a collective action rich in political and social significance, demonstrating the determination of the entire nation to overcome difficulties together, maintain health, and strengthen solidarity towards the goal of sustainable development and strong integration in the new era.
As soon as the plan was made, the Minister of Public Security directed units under the Ministry of Public Security and police in localities nationwide to simultaneously launch preparations, coordinate organization and participate in activities.
In particular, the provincial and municipal police forces are the leading units coordinating with the resident agencies of Nhan Dan Newspaper to advise local Party committees and authorities to simultaneously launch in 34 provinces and cities and 3,321 communes, wards and special zones nationwide.
“Moving Forward with Vietnam” is not only a simple community physical activity, but also a collective action rich in political and social significance, expressing the determination of the entire nation to overcome difficulties together, maintain health, strengthen solidarity, and aim for sustainable development and strong integration in the new era.
With that meaning, the Ministry of Public Security has directed the Public Security of provinces and centrally-run cities to preside over and coordinate with the resident agencies of Nhan Dan Newspaper to advise the People's Committees of provinces and cities to simultaneously organize and launch in 34 provinces and cities with 3,321 communes, wards and administrative zones nationwide.
Not only stopping at launching, based on the actual situation in the locality, the Provincial Police have directed the Police at the ward, commune and special zone levels to report to the local Party Committee and government to deploy a series of activities; combining propaganda, dissemination and legal education on topics to the masses on crime prevention (security and order, fire prevention and fighting, traffic safety, drowning prevention, drug and e-cigarette prevention, etc.).
At the same time, mobilize people to actively participate in building a mass movement to protect national security at the grassroots level, so that every step today is a solid step on the path of building and protecting the Fatherland.
