In the process of building and developing the country, the working class and the Trade Union have always played a key role in promoting the cause of industrialization and modernization, and at the same time, they are a loyal and trustworthy force of the Party. In the new context, when the revised Trade Union Law is about to take effect from July 1, 2025, the role of the Trade Union is even more clearly affirmed: It is a solid bridge between workers, businesses and state management agencies - all under the comprehensive leadership of the Party.

Focus on non-state enterprises

Over the years, trade unions, especially the Vietnam General Confederation of Industry and Trade (VGCL), have continuously innovated their methods of operation, getting closer to non-state enterprises. This is a dynamic sector, accounting for a large proportion of production and employment, but also facing many challenges in terms of working conditions, social welfare and compliance with labor laws.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, in his speech on Workers' Month 2025, emphasized that trade unions at all levels need to: "Regularly grasp the thoughts, aspirations and orient the ideology of union members and workers", creating a foundation for establishing harmonious labor relations.

Not only representing workers, the Union also needs to accompany and support businesses - especially in the context of market fluctuations, technological transformation and integration pressure.

A notable point in recent times is the trend of Trade Unions participating more and more deeply in the process of monitoring the implementation of legal policies in enterprises. With the role of a “bridge”, Trade Unions contribute to creating a common voice between employees, employers and state agencies.

Promoting the implementation of legal policies through dialogue and consultation

One of the new steps is to promote the mechanism of consultation and dialogue between three parties. In which, the Trade Union is not only a representative of the interests of workers, but also a bridge for businesses to proactively approach, give opinions, and monitor legal policies during the implementation process.

In reality, many non-state enterprises have proactively worked with grassroots unions to build collective labor agreements, participate in labor conferences, improve working conditions, and enhance policies.

The Union's support for workers is clearly demonstrated through programs such as "Union Shelter", "Union Meals", taking care of workers during Tet, supporting workers who have lost their jobs or have reduced working hours... This is not only a humanitarian activity, but also a testament to the role of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members - one of the core functions of the Union organization.

The role of the Trade Union in supervising the implementation of social insurance, health insurance, occupational safety and hygiene, etc. is increasingly evident, contributing to limiting labor conflicts and maintaining stable production.

Bringing Vietnamese goods closer to consumers – with the power of union members

Another important content that Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien especially emphasized during Workers' Month 2025 is to continue to effectively implement the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods".

Trade Unions at all levels are required to identify this as a regular, long-term political task, and must strongly innovate propaganda methods.

Responding to that spirit, many grassroots unions in the industry have organized Vietnamese goods fairs and domestic goods consumption weeks in industrial parks, bringing high-quality Vietnamese goods to workers.

At the same time, the movement "Smart consumption - using Vietnamese goods for the community" was also widely launched among workers and civil servants, becoming the main consumer force and an effective channel to spread awareness of consuming Vietnamese goods.

Responding to Workers' Month and Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health 2025, Supe Lam Thao organized a Welfare Booth, an area to display and sell high-quality Vietnamese products at preferential prices. With 3 main areas: Supe Lam Thao's own products (fertilizers, chemicals).

Food, essential consumer goods from Vietnamese businesses: rice, spices, household appliances... Health care area and introduction of worker support services. This affirms that the humane message of the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union and the Vietnam Chemical Industry Union has spread strongly.

Harmonizing interests – a sustainable foundation for business and society

One of the factors that helps businesses develop sustainably is a stable working environment, where the rights and obligations of all parties are implemented fairly. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour with nearly 150,000 members is striving to establish new standards for labor relations in non-state enterprises - a place that inherently has many sensitive factors.

By encouraging businesses to become more involved in union activities, not only as employers but also as “companion partners”, trade unions are helping to build a foundation of trust and consensus for development. Where unions operate effectively, there is higher productivity, lower turnover and more stable labor relations.

The Trade Union is not only the voice of workers, but also a force that accompanies businesses in improving productivity and production and business efficiency. The emulation movement "Good workers, creative workers" and technical innovation initiatives have been widely launched, creating hundreds of thousands of useful solutions, contributing to saving hundreds of billions of VND for businesses. This is a clear demonstration of the active role of the Trade Union in linking economic development and improving the lives of workers.

Through its activities, the Trade Union also helps the State effectively implement social policies, ensure labor rights, promote gender equality, improve the working environment and enhance the quality of human resources. In particular, during the Workers' Month and the Month of Action on occupational safety and health in 2025, with the theme "Vietnamese workers pioneering the new era", the Trade Union has coordinated with state management agencies and enterprises to raise awareness and take practical actions for safety, health and labor productivity.
