Phu Tho Provincial Police said that from 2:00 p.m. this afternoon (October 4), military ferries will be used to transport vehicles and people across the Red River.

Accordingly, the types of vehicles carried across the river by ferries include: rudimentary vehicles, motorbikes, all kinds of motorcycles and pedestrians.

Using ferries to transport vehicles and people across the river will shorten the travel time and distance from Phung Nguyen commune (Lam Thao district) to Huong Non commune (Tam Nong district) and vice versa.

Previously, when Phong Chau bridge collapsed, the pontoon bridge could not operate, vehicles and people wanting to move across the river had to take a very long detour.

Previously, on October 3, at the September Defense Ministry's briefing, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of Defense, requested the Army to proactively and promptly respond effectively to emergency natural disaster situations.

Specifically, Minister Phan Van Giang requested the Engineering Corps to coordinate with Military Region 2 and Phu Tho province to study the plan to use specialized ferries to transport people across the river.

Current status of Phong Chau pontoon bridge after having to be disassembled due to rapid river flow. The water level on the Red River in Phu Tho province rose high and flowed rapidly, forcing authorities to disassemble Phong Chau pontoon bridge to ensure safety for people and equipment.
