As Secretary of the Youth Union of Luu Nghiep Anh commune, Tra Cu district (Tra Vinh province), Mr. Phan Dinh Tien not only actively participates in local volunteer movements but is also one of the leading young people in the movement to establish a career.

After researching and realizing that bamboo rats are a wild animal, easy to raise and have high economic value, Mr. Tien decided to start a business with a bamboo rat farming model.

In 2022, he started a trial of raising 5 bamboo rats. The main food of the bamboo rats is bamboo, lime grass, sweet potatoes...

Because bamboo rats grow and develop quickly, he can sell about 3 batches of commercial bamboo rats a year, the price of commercial bamboo rats is about 800,000 VND/kg.

Currently, Mr. Phan Dinh Tien, Luu Nghiep Anh commune, Tra Cu district (Tra Vinh province) has expanded the scale of raising this specialty to 40 rats. Mr. Tien mainly sells commercial meat rats with stable output and prices.

Also a young man starting a business with a livestock model, Mr. Tran Van Dien, Luu Nghiep Anh commune, Tra Cu district (Tra Vinh province) has been implementing a wild boar farming model since September 2022 until now.

Through the actual process of raising wild boars, he realized that wild boars have high resistance, and farmers can take advantage of easily found and available by-products in the surrounding area to make food for the pigs.

Raising wild boar reduces the cost of raising pigs and helps the pork to be firm, which is popular with many customers. Currently, the price of 1kg of wild boar meat ranges from 75,000 to 120,000 thousand VND.

In the context of traditional pig farming often facing difficulties due to disease outbreaks, increasing feed prices while selling prices are low, raising wild boars opens up a new direction that brings efficiency to farmers.

Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Han, Secretary of the Youth Union of Tra Cu district (Tra Vinh province) said that currently, the Youth Union of Tra Cu district has established a Youth Innovation and Startup Club with 37 members, of which the Executive Board consists of 5 comrades with the purpose of sharing many new and effective business models.

For young people developing agricultural economy, the District Youth Union has been recommending that the higher-level Youth Union and other sectors and levels focus on supporting output linkage and applying scientific and technical advances in production.

Reducing the poverty rate and increasing income are important criteria contributing to the successful construction of new rural areas.
