On December 26, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien reported on the progress of the implementation of the Coastal Road Project connecting the East-West Economic Corridor, phase 1.

The Coastal Road Project connecting the East-West Economic Corridor has a total investment of VND 2,060 billion, of which the central budget supports more than VND 1,643 billion and the Quang Tri provincial budget supports more than VND 416 billion.

Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien chaired the meeting.

The project passes through 4 localities, namely Vinh Linh, Gio Linh, Trieu Phong districts and Dong Ha city (Quang Tri province). In phase 1, the total length is 48 km with 2 sections. Section 1 from the border with Quang Binh - Quang Tri province to the north of Cua Viet bridge, 36 km long, invested with a scale of 2 lanes for motor vehicles. Section 2 connecting the coastal road with the center of Dong Ha city, 12 km long, invested with a scale of 2 lanes for motor vehicles. Along the entire 48 km route mentioned above, there are 6 bridges built permanently with reinforced concrete.

Reporting at the meeting, the Quang Tri Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board (project investor) said that up to now, the project has handed over 22.15 km of land, the disbursed capital in 2024 is 345.026/345.183 billion VND (reaching 99.95%) and the remaining sections are expected to be handed over in the first quarter of 2025.

Of which, the project passing through Vinh Linh district has a length of 23.06 km and has been handed over 5.1 km of land; Gio Linh district has been handed over 7.55/12.4 km of land; Dong Ha city has handed over 2.5/2.7 km of land; Trieu Phong district has handed over 7/9.5 km of land.

Regarding resettlement, Dong Ha city has completed resettlement for 37 affected households. In Vinh Linh district, there are 48 households affected by the project that are subject to resettlement. Resettlement areas in Vinh Linh district are being built in Cua Tung town (1 area), Vinh Thai commune (2 areas), and Kim Thach commune. Households will be provided with land for resettlement on the spot.

In Gio Linh district, Gio Linh district People's Committee is conducting a survey and establishing an investment project to convert land use purposes before building a resettlement area for 22 affected households.

Trieu Phong district has 53 affected households that must be resettled. Currently, the People's Committee of this district has approved the construction drawing design, made estimates for 5 resettlement areas and is implementing the next steps.

According to the investor representative, currently the site clearance for the project with the remaining area is still facing many difficulties. Focusing on problems such as determining the origin of land use; changing the purpose of forest use; the work of liquidating forest areas owned by the people and managed by the State...

Construction of the coastal road project connecting the East-West economic corridor of Quang Tri

Regarding the construction progress, according to the Quang Tri Province Construction Investment Project Management Board, currently 4 construction packages of the project are being implemented. However, the construction work has recently been affected by the weather and the source of roadbed materials that must be transported from distant mines, the source of sand for the foundation is scarce, and the reserves of the mines are small, leading to additional costs and delays in progress.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien requested the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board to continue urging construction units to implement the project according to the set schedule. In particular, directing contractors to focus on human resources, equipment, and machinery to speed up construction progress when the weather is favorable, especially speeding up construction of the section from Dong Ha city to Trieu Phong.

Regarding the implementation of site clearance for the project, Vice Chairman Le Duc Tien directed the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board to review and coordinate with relevant agencies to calculate and determine specific areas and land prices to provide a basis for supporting and compensating affected households and completing the project as soon as possible. In addition, localities must review and focus on mobilizing all resources to accelerate site clearance and build resettlement areas to help people stabilize their lives soon.
