This is a good rate, suitable for the current stage in the context of the country's economic development, towards the era of national development."

According to this proposal, the minimum wage in Region I will increase from VND 4.96 million/month to VND 5.31 million/month (an increase of VND 350,000); Region II will increase from VND 4.41 million/month to VND 4.73 million/month (an increase of VND 320,000); Region III will increase from VND 3.86 million/month to VND 4.14 million/month (an increase of VND 280,000); Region IV will increase from VND 3.45 million/month to VND 3.7 million/month (an increase of VND 250,000).

Previously, at the first session of the National Wage Council (held on June 26), the relevant parties could not find a common voice on the proposed regional minimum wage. At that time, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proposed two options for increasing the minimum wage to ensure a minimum living standard for workers. Those options were an increase of 9.2% and 8.3%. The Vietnam Confederation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) proposed an adjustment of 3% to 5%. In addition, the Council's Technical Department also proposed an increase of the regional minimum wage from 6.5% to 7%.
