Trung's gentle and simple face makes a good impression on many people at first sight. Since passing the university entrance exam and moving to Ho Chi Minh City to study, Trung only dares to eat vegetarian meals (15,000 VND/portion) every day. Trung said that being full to have the energy to study is the happiest thing for him right now.
Trung's hometown is in An Giang, his parents divorced before he was born. When he grew up, Trung was sent to his grandparents by his mother to go to Ho Chi Minh City to work. Although his family's circumstances were difficult and he lacked the affection of both parents, Trung was very obedient, listened to his grandparents and was especially good at studying. For 12 consecutive years, Trung was an excellent student even though he did not have much extra classes because his family was too poor.

“My grandfather suffered a stroke, and my grandmother takes care of him while selling lottery tickets every day. Seeing my grandparents work hard but never let me drop out of school, I told myself to try harder. Passing the university entrance exam with a high score is the gift I want to give to my grandparents, mother, uncles and aunts who have always loved, cared for and worried about me. I hope to become successful in the future so I can come back to help my family members,” Trung confided.
Sharing about the 2024 Valedictorian Scholarship organized by Tien Phong newspaper, Trung said that he was very surprised and did not believe that he had received this valuable scholarship. With this scholarship, Trung planned to give part of it to his mother to pay off his debt, because his mother had previously borrowed money for him to pay his tuition at the beginning of the school year; send some to his grandfather for medicine; and save the rest to cover his study expenses.
